Approved.

As for Kaboul, I wonder how cheap that actually is?

Pompey despite being skint are going to turn down £14m from City and sell to us for probably less than half that ?

Doesn't add up

Unless Pompey have defaulted on paying us for him and we just take him back

Redknapp signed him for Portsmouth, but never seem convinced by Younes as a CB.

This may be a pure business deal. Pompey may still owe us money, and therefore we have decided to settle up with them to take him back, and then sell him to the highest bidder in the summer if he fails to impress. This is of course speculation derived in part from the rumours that manciteeh are prepared to pay very big money for Kaboul.

This will be Levy sensing a quick buck. Get him now for the balance of what Pompey owe, flog him again for £8-10m in the summer. Sweet, sweet profits.

I hope we keep him tbh if we get him back

He joined us at an unlucky time and has the makings of a world class CB

I'd be happy with this. Plus, do we know for sure City offered £14 million? Why would anyone offer Pompey decent money for their players? They are desperate. Surely you'd wait until they are on the very, very brink and then offer them enough just to keep them afloat. They'd have no choice but to accept a low offer in those circumstances. I'd imagine a few clubs will be hovering, hoping to pick up a bargain in those circumstances, but Kaboul wont sign for just anyone, so as long as we get an agreement with him, I think we could sign him back cheaply. Don't they still owe us money from him anyway?

We supposedly wrote off a large chunk of debt with the Kranjcar and Crouch deals. Perhaps they still owe us on his transfer?

I'd also be happy with this signing.

Always liked Kaboul, and thought one day he'd learn how to defend.

I'd be happy to have him back...

I still dont think hes better than the 4 we have and he does make alot of mistakes...his positional play isn't that good...wait a second! He's still the same player we sold who looks good cos he is surrounded by utter turd, no offence (well it is offensive but its true).

Since when are Manchester City going to pay £14m for Kaboul?

If he comes as back up I don't see why not. I know some may say he looked good because of the shite that was around him at Pompey but I thought Harry had him playing better than the previous managers at Spurs did and Harry bought him because he felt he could get better out of him.
I would take him over A Ferdinand any day

They definitely still owe us as we are getting a portion of their half season TV money.

I can never really make my mind up on Kaboul: some days I'm convinced he will go on to be a really very special player indeed for somebody, some days I think he will permanently be a decent footballer who can't defend to save his life.

That said, if bringing him back finally puts the last nail in the coffin of the prospect of us trying to sign Anton Ferdinand then I say deal, Noel.

Sounds like a good deal to me, I bet Pompey are sick of the sight of us!

I felt we gave up on him prematurely. He was unfortunate in that king was out long term and Dawson, unlike now, was himself in need of an experienced partner at the time. Following Jolson sacking, we signed proven class in woodgate a d that was the end of kaboul. Ultimately, he's strong, fast, good in the air, decent on the ball and a threat from set pieces. He has improved since he left, and he's young and with the right coaching has every chance of improving on the mental aspects of his game.

Besides, what would a transfer window be without some returning alumni

Wouldn't be a bad move actually. He can cover centre back and defensive midfield.

That wouldn't be allowed would it? I think that goes against that whole playing for 3 Clubs in 1 year rule. I dont think we could get away with this one like we did when we re-signed our former players, because they were coming back to us. I think the rule came in for this very reason though.
