Kaboul is a bloody liability at centre-back. However, if 'Arry thinks he can take all the things he is good at, and use them to turn him into a good defender, then I trust his judgement.

It would have to be bloody cheap though.

I felt we gave up on him prematurely. He was unfortunate in that king was out long term and Dawson, unlike now, was himself in need of an experienced partner at the time. Following Jolson sacking, we signed proven class in woodgate a d that was the end of kaboul. Ultimately, he's strong, fast, good in the air, decent on the ball and a threat from set pieces. He has improved since he left, and he's young and with the right coaching has every chance of improving on the mental aspects of his game.

Besides, what would a transfer window be without some returning alumni

This.

I'd love us to take Kaboul back, especially "on the cheap". Some will say that we already have 4 quality centre-backs, but right now, we're pretty much relying week-in-week-out on only 2. Kaboul was a talent when he was with us, and he's certainly improved as a player during his time with Portsmouth.

That wouldn't be allowed would it? I think that goes against that whole playing for 3 Clubs in 1 year rule. I dont think we could get away with this one like we did when we re-signed our former players, because they were coming back to us. I think the rule came in for this very reason though.

That's why I said "then sell him to the highest bidder in the summer if he fails to impress".

Of course there's a fair chance that Kaboul would impress, and if King and Woodgate continue to suffer from their injuries, then Younes would stay at Spurs as one of our CB contingent.

There were rumours that Donkey Adams wanted Kaboul at Pompey, and persuaded Redknapp to sign him. 'Arry then wasn't impressed with his defending, and played him at FB and as a DM. So, if Kaboul came back to Spurs, Redknapp may need to change him mind on Kaboul's abilties, as he seems to have done with Gomes after being very unsure of him to begin with.

I see Kaboul coming in as a DM more than a CB purely based on his distribution from deep. He would have Bassong (speed) and Dawson (positioning) behind him.

He's crap. Steer clear. I am with the minority ho thinks he's rubbish. No better than we have and a liability. On par with Vega!!!

Can he play there though? He's had a few games at pompey in that position and, from what I've seen, not been too great. he has the ball playing ability to play further froward but not the awarness of whats going on behind him to play in midfield.

The report said Pompey wanted £14m not that anyone offered £14m. I want a million pounds and a blow-job, believe you me I'll get neither!

If we bring him back to sell him on, he wouldn't actually have to play for us though would he?

there are a few reasons why i am scepticle about this itk:

1. Kaboul is no where good enough
2. portsmouth owe us money so if we really wanted their players we would have got by now.

He is useless, think i'd rather have the clap (although yes i will support him if he comes back)... As has been said before he invented a whole new position the attacking CB

I think you'll find that the attacking, playmaking CB was around long before Kaboul. The earliest I can remember is Albert at Newcastle under Keegan, he was magnificent. Also, at the end of his career Rijkaard returned to Ajax and was part of that revolutionary side that won the European Cup in the mid 90's where the defence was made up of two full backs (Reiziger and De Boer) and one centre back (Blind) with Rijkaard just off Blind as a defender/ sweeper when the opposition had possession and a creative midfielder when Ajax had the ball (a formation he himself tried to get Barca to play when things were getting desperate towards the end of his tenure as manager there).

considering to his comments about Levy some weeks ago, i really doubt this:

Kaboul said: 'I didn't join Sunderland because of Levy at Spurs. He wanted to treat us all like cows. I told him I have personality and I am not your dog. That's it. So I told him I will not go. He told me to get on a flight and go. I told him I wouldn't and would go where I want. Sunderland are a good team, good fans and everything. But I don't like it when someone imposes on me like I'm a dog.

The Man City owners and Pompey owners are best mates. They've agreed to buy Kaboul for 16.5m to help Pompey pay off their debts. They're also looking at buying James and Utaka for a combined fee of 6m for the same reason.

I've blatantly made that up.

I don't mind Kaboul popping back. I'd be surprised if he did though. He'll come back, Redknapp will go to jail, Jol will return and Kaboul, Defoe, Krancjar and Crouch will go back to Pompey. Yeah.

So in theory we could end up playing two central defenders, bassong and kaboul, two players who came from teams that leaked goals for fun, fills me full of confidence.

If we want a big clumsy lump, then go for samba at blackburn or hangeland at fulham.
