Expecting the arrival two players minimum.

Hearing bigs things about VDV, we've been playing games with Madrid all summer helping them drum up interest in their unwanted players and now is our turn to get our rewards by swooping at the last minute. I say well played Levy if it comes off.

The two from Pompey have been enquired about, not sure what will happen there though, think more will be made clearer tomorrow. James will want to be number one because of England though and so a move to Stoke may well be more favourable.

Defender wise we will probably strengthen too, Chavez looking likely.

Cheers Storts :)

I'd be astounded if we got Van der Vaart.

Isn't the VDV thing all over the papers for tomorrow?

And hasn't Sorensen been very good recently? Would be surprised if Stoke went after James.

Happy enough about VDV - not so sure that James makes much sense. He will want to be first choice and I don't think he is good enough.

VDV.This would be unbelieveable. Fantastic signing if it comes off.Levy will go up a few notches with the fans if he pulls this one out of the bag.

Forgot to add that Petrov also has legs, I said the other day although don't think it made it onto here.

We have a lot of targets and we will do the deals which suit us best on the day.

As for outgoings:

We're still listening to offers for all fringe players, if big enough offers come in, those not in the first XI are off

thanks. i hope we get them done early because all the signs say we will sign at least two but i'd hate it if we signed nobody after all this.

VDV would be a fantastic purchase. He is an excellent passer and creator of chances. Can see him playing very well alongside Modric, Lennon and behind any of our forwards. Everything is now crossed for this one to come to fruition but can see it being another false hope.

Is this really the way it works? If you say so... Van der Vaart would IMO take our squad to another level, the one above Liverpool.

will be shocked if we get VdV, and stoke get james (sorenson is great)

wouldn't be surprised by either kranjcar or petrov, or bentley or jenas leaving at anything 12m+

is chavez better than charlie at CB? can't see why we'd want yet another CB unless king's situation doesn't look good, though i suppose at least chavez would be cheap and fine with sitting on our bench

I reckon we can be virtually certain that we will get 1 of Petrov/VDV/Niko as all want/have to move. VDV would obviously be the least likely as he will be hoping to get a cl team, but we can afford him, we want him and he just may not have any other better options. Petrov and Niko would both jump at the chance imo because of where they are even though Petrov would have to lose 20-25k per week on his wages.

I want Petrov the least, but he is still a very good player but less suited to our one sided system and not a natural replacement for Modric. It may be that we will go for Niko because it will be easier to rotate/move him when Mods comes back as I imagine that VDV will not want to be understudy to Luka.

It will be interesting over the next 2 days and I reckon that Harry will be letting Levy know that it is imperative that we sign a LW+CB+CM if we are to maintain our "triffic" start to the season!

I'd be happy if we picked up Chavez if he is as they say CB/LB cover, and cheap too, not too expectant to be first choice, but hopefully good enough to do th business once called upon. Secondly a no frills, no nonsense, Palacios understudy. Those two options covered, I'll be a happy bunny. One of Kranjcar/Van der Vaart/less so Petrov, would just be a bonus for me, think we have players that can already do the business unless Bentley goes. As for a keeper, Cudicini's more than good enough for me, and I'd hope Gomes won't be out that long.

Gotta feel sorry for Portsmouth, they really are up cack alley, even with this new owner they look certain to go down already, they have been terrible, dont look like scoring, weak at the back and if they sell Niko and James then you would have to think they would be up the creek sans a paddle.
