I'm expecting to hear 1st that Pav has left before any announcement of a Van Nistelrooy or other striker coming in. I'd pay more attention to the Pav news at the moment.

I'd have thought it the other way round. We couldnt afford to sell pav without knowing RVN will sign. Personally I see RVN signing then pav moving on.

Its all about getting the best price. If we already have RVN we will get a lower price. We will anounce the depature of Pav before conferming the signing of RvN, regardless if we have agreed a deal or not

That would work too, but we would have to have RVN's signature before we sold Pav. This is where I see the problem. Madrid can't keep their trap shut and would leak it, or someone around the club would, it's too big a signing to keep quiet. Either way, we need to ensure Ruud signs and we couldnt afford to let Pav go then for him to turn us down and go elsewhere.

Haha. Rodney Trotter. So true now you mention it - and now I just know that I'll never see Crouchy again without making the connection...

Ok Modric, exception that proves the rule I say. I honestly can't remember us doing any other weekend transfers.

This is from todays Marca :

Ruud van Nistelrooy points to the Premier. His agent, Roger Linds, met Wednesday with Real Madrid to discuss the future of the player.

Mark was the only witness at the Bernabeu and, as this newspaper has learned there are three bids that manages the player, who has until Jan. 31, when the market is closed in winter, to decide whether to accept any of them.

Pablo Polo reports that the problem is that, to date, none of the proposals is to persuade the Dutchman.

"Ruud has been very important to us, we will be respectful"
Tottenham and Stoke City are the most interested in obtaining the veteran Dutchman tip, intended to move to the Premiership to qualify for minutes and have the option of playing the World Cup with Holland.

So we may have to wait for another 10 days before we know, I hate the transfer window. I predict a big club to come in and scupper our offer as usual.

Well, if that happens, it's not as if we haven't ended up with egg on our faces before. The key player in all this seems to be Pavlyuchenko. If he doesn't sell for the money Levy wants, then there's nothing we can do. It all seems to revolve around him at the moment before Ruud or anyone else can come in.

Zenit are the only club to match our offer, and Pav himself rejected them.

No Fazz, if you're not optimistic then there is no hope for any of us. I want the fun loving happy child of January 2009. Don't let the Arshavin saga ruin that, that's what they want. You are a golden boy Fazza, a beacon of light and a beautiful soul that should lead the way for the rest of us on Spurscommunity.

I love you Fazza, and I hope you love me to. Never give up.

 Look, if your looking for a date your barking up the wrong tree my friend

I try and keep my head down these days after the heartbreak of the Arshavin saga, part of me died that day :-|

I honestly can't see us signing any decent player at the moment. I'm beginning to worry about Harry, I think he may be starting to suffer from brain damage.

Van Nistelrooy is exactly what we need right now though, the guy still scores goals for fun, anyone with a pedigree in front of goal like him is more than welcome at Spurs IMO, he is still better than Defoe IMO regardless of his age, He is better than all our strikers at present.
