I think this is a bit of a misconception about Keane. Keane's best football with Spurs was with Berbatov and the majority of the time Berbatov was the link/target man and Keane led the line. Yes he can drop into the hole as it were but he can certainly lead the line very well. Think his goals against Fulham in the cup and Liverpool away in the league and you'll see what I mean.

EG is the one type of player we don't really have. Crouch is a target man, Keane is a no. 9 more and a no. 10 and Defoe is obviously a no. 9. But EG can link the play AND be the target man as Berbatov/Sheringham did bringing others into the game and holding the ball up/winning flick ons etc. IF this works it could be the difference between top 4 and top 6...

Spot on. This is exactly why he didn't fit in at Liverpool, because Rafa also got his best position wrong.

Spurs complete Gudjohnsen deal

Sky Sports News understands that Tottenham have signed Monaco forward Eidur Gudjohnsen on loan until the end of the season.

The former Bolton, Chelsea and Barcelona star had been a target of West Ham before Premier League and London rivals Spurs made their move.

Gudjohnsen
spacer.gif
is reported to have undergone a medical at Upton Park and so the Hammers were less than impressed when news broke earlier this week that Tottenham appeared favourites in the deal.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp

was quoted as saying in Thursday's newspapers that he had offered identical terms to West Ham and that the Iceland international was deciding on his choice of clubs.

Gudjohnsen now appears to have made up his mind and is set to move to White Hart Lane
spacer.gif
where his craft will add a different dimension to UEFA Champions League-chasing Tottenham's attacking options.

The combination of Jermain Defoe's pace and Peter Crouch's

aerial threat have proved a positive pairing this season, but when the duo misfire Spurs have struggled.

Club captain Robbie Keane

is out of form and has been relegated to a role as substitute, while Roman Pavlyuchenko

is expected to leave in January and Birmingham are thought to have made an approach.

At 31 would he be our oldest outfield player? Hardly old though is it and he was never really one who relied on pace. What I remember of Gudjohnsen was that he was one half of possibly one of the best functioning strikeforce in Premiership history, has great feet and can do most things pretty well. Scores with his left and right, is about 6'1 or 6'2 and can head the ball, good technique, experience.

Thing I am most worried about is his fitness having not played a lot, but I doubt Harry would have signed him if he didn't think he could put a shift in.

Think it is a good solid signing and gives us a different option that Harry might actually use.

Like I keep bleating on about, he and Hasslebaink doesn't sound too dissimilar to he and Defoe. Good option.

From that second picture it looks like it was actually Wayne Rooney who was at the lane signing a contract.

id see him as a berba type player. an intelligent forward who can link up and bring the best out in keano.

This. At Chelsea, he was a poor man's Berba- providing great touch and possession skill with his back to the goal around the top of the box. I would prefer using him as a target man more than Crouch to be honest.

I think Berbs style is the closest to EG, they are very similar, and on his day EG was a very, very good player.........is he now, doubt it, he has been average in Spain and France so wouldn't see him coming to a tougher league and doing better, but you never know!

He was actually bloody good in his final season in Spain, looked great whenever he played. His lack of action in France is down to a falling out with the coach, nothing else.
