Full story.

Great news surely!

And Van der Vaart insists he is more than happy to remain at White Hart Lane.

"We always want to play in Europe. It is good to have the experience from the Europa League and it would be a nice title to win," he told The Sun.

"I like to be playing every two or three days. Of course I want to be playing in the Champions League.

"But I have only been here one year. I have enjoyed my year and we will see what next season will bring.

"It's really important to be in Europe. You saw this season that being in the Champions League has helped us.

Now let's get the players in to work in a system with him in it !
"It is so important for players and that's why we want to win our final game against Birmingham."

Come on Rafa, we love you and you know it makes sense. Would love to see him holding the UEFA Cup next May.

Good to know that he is not a mercenary. He's done a fantastic job for us this season even without a proper pre season so fingers crossed he will step up another level next season!

This is great news.

To be honest I think playing with players like Rafa, Bale and Modric is a bigger pull than CL football for prospective players.

Also how we played in the CL in this season probably only helped our reputation.

Precisely.

I think we're in a better position than last year. If we're honest we were a relative unknown around European football. We took the Champions League by storm, and yes, if we were there again that would be even better, but the profile of the club has been raised, and players will have seen us play and will have seen the team we're building. I'm sure there are strikers who would have seen us and thought, "I fancy some of that".

There you go. The Uefa cup attracts top players!

Beat me to it. Just going to say exact same thing. If Modders, Bale, Sandro, stay, alongside VDV, players will be looking at it and thingking "I would like to play in that team", and "Irrespective of being in the Europa this season, that looks like a team that is developing into one that can win things".

Also how we played in the CL in this season probably only helped our reputation.

It was profile raising - see my reply, above - that exposure of the players we have in our developing team may just attract real hitters.

Real Hitters - newly established Spanish team based in burgeoing holiday-centre which was a fishing village (pop. 7) but one generation ago:up:
'Patently, Dan Levy wants to set up a relationship thang with them, much like the one we have with inter, etc....but :shhh:...don't say I tolds ya so, it's TS:wink:

Great point and it's amazing how underated this point is - we possess individually great players and any prospective player we are looking to persue will recognise this.

Did he mean it, or was it a sloppy heat of the moment gesture?

Oh, he meant it alright. He even took the badge out for a few drinks after the game, they were later seen sneaking into a hotel together. Sylvie completely understands the love affair.

I don't think he will go anywhere, and I love the guy, always did and always wanted him at Spurs.

But, he doesn't actaully state that he is staying at all, does he?
