He is a very creative and attacking midfielder from the times I have seen him play. I would drop JJ and have Zoko holding. JJ is too casual, it donesn't bother him to lose, as long as he looks good on the ball.[/quote]

:bang:
Zokora would like to be half the player JJ is.

I've never been as big a fan of him as others posters on here are, though i do rate him and would be delighted if we signed him. To be fair though, I only really got into watching Dutch football in his last 18 months at Ajax and apparently that was by far the worst period of his career. He moved to Hamburg just after I moved from there back to England, but all my friends there say he is brilliant.

Should have signed him the summer he left Ajax for £4mill.

I think he meant the half that gets goals and not the other half that doesn't create, doesn't dominate a game, doesn't keep possession and goes missing

ahh, i think i understand now. so zokora would like to be half as crap as jenas at passing, tackling, dominating games, etc.
thanks for clearing that up bubble.

In defence of Arnesen, as I posted earlier, VDV hadn't been playing that well at the time and there were major concerns about his knee (I think he has cartilage problems like Redknapp, but I'm not sure).

I was at Flybury when VDV scored a beauty against L'arse and I've been a fan ever since. He may have his injury doubts but he's tried and tested in the more physical N.European Leagues.

He's Creative, Goalscoring, Attacking & Proven. Get him in.

Fair enough, Hamburg stole him for that price though, I didn't even know about the deal until it was official.

According to a Dutch poster on COYS, called Ariebombarie, we did apparently make a late move for him. I don't know how true that is, but given his low fee, he was proabably worth the risk. And on the other side of the coin from my defence of Arnesen, though VDV wasn't in great form, surely it wasn't that long before that he was considered one of the best young players in Europe, so Arnesen (PSV and all) knew what he was capable of and again should maybe have taken the risk considering the low fee.

We'll never know now, I hope Hamburg ease up accept Valencia's bid, he would be a good fit in their team.

fortunatley he is more than half the player Jenas is, in fact in terms of what i've seen in the last two games i would say Zoko has outplayed Jenas in both

Agree totally. Zokora even did pretty well playing at left back against the Toffees. Penas isn't worth a place on the bench the way he's currently playing. With the reserves.

 Sums him up really, he's been poor even by his standards.

he has a clause in his contract, where he could leave hamburg after the 2008/2009 season for 1.5 mio euros. so i wouldn´t pay over the odds for him now when he could leave for a bargain after the next season

thats my opinion, altough i think we need a creative midfielder now, but i believe there are different options which aren´t as expensive as van der vaart would be now

I sorely doubt we could say it's a "done deal", and i don't care who the random ITK is - i've become really disillusioned by the ITK's this year, they've been far, far below par. I only ever saw them as light entertainment, but still, this year has been poor.

I would be delighted to have him come to the Lane - i assume he'd be used in place of JJ, rather than Steed though. Steeds done himself a lot of favors with his passionate, attacking play in the last two games, so unless Jol intends to play him in the middle, i think he's earning that left side at the moment.

Lets wait and see, Van der Vaart would be a magnificent coup, if we could snatch him from the likes of Valencia or Juve
