Now, i know i'll probably get a big backlash here, but i don't care.

I'm sick to death of week in week out having to play with 10 men for the first 60 mins of any game, because Rafa won't put a shift in. There was a misconception that Berbatov was lazy, there's no misconception with Rafa. How much more fluid did our football look without him on the field yesterday?

How many more games will we have to accommodate VDV by playing Luka wide right and affecting the performance of the team?

Make no bones about it, we all know Luka is our most influential player and makes us tick, especially when playing in the centre. So why do we keep playing him on the right if VDV doesn't do f*** all playing off the front man?

Play Luka off Ade and watch us fly!

When the goals dry up, which believe me they will, everyone will see what a limited footballer this man really is.

I think you are watching a different player, Van Der Vaart works his socks off every game

I can understand some wanting him benched because of the balance of the team but to say he is lazy is just wrong.

Top quality thread OP. 5 stars. I'm saving a copy to an external hard drive in case the internet ever gets deleted.

Luka has tremendous attacking instinct.

In the voice of Frank the Tank in Old School after he's been hit with the tranqualiser dart at the birthday party... You Crazy!

Reluctantly, I'm inclined to agree with the dropping VDV bit.

I know it's an opinion that will upset many on here, but I'd like to see how we get on playing 4-4-2 with JD and Ade up front, and modric and Parker as the midfield 2.
we can always bring VDV on later in the game for 20/25 minutes, where he can be the fresh legs against tiring defenders.

Let's face it, he was pretty anonymous up until he slotted home the pen, and was pretty well marshalled by the Toon defence after.

I do actually agree with some of those points made but not that VDV should be dropped. To be honest, he is our only midfielder capable of scoring fairly regularly.

The problem yesterday was where Modric was played. He should have been in the middle. Modric, VDv & ADE through the spine of the team is best for us.

Laugh all you want, but our best performances come without him in the side.

Stop sucking off VDV and think of the team.

He did nothing all game, Ade gets brought down, Rafa takes the glory and you all give him a blowy. It's bollocks.

This is true.

Maybe we should let the other team worry about us, instead of us worrying about them (Livermore and Parker).

You know what, you are right. We should sell him and bring back Ghaly. He was always on form.

Can't say I agree with the OP but its all about opinions I guess........I can see this thread being regularly bumped, much like the 3pts from 8 games thread or whatever it was called

I'm inclined to agree, to some extent, with the OP.

VDV is a luxury that is displacing our most influential player from a position where he can really influence the game. If VDV won't put a shift in on the right then he should be dropped imo. The best team doesn't always have the best individuals in it (look at Jack Charlton for England).

Like the latest NLD:s and the CL-games last year?

Yep, most definitely. I didn't say results, i said performances.

City at the Lane last year was our best performance by far.

This season so far was the Liverpool game. They couldn't live with us for the first half an hour, and that was even with Kranjcar at RM.

Sandro and Parker HAVE to hold and Luka HAS to play ahead of them. That should leave VDV playing off the right, which he is incapable of doing because he can't, and won't track back. So drop him.

It's no coincidence Luka murdered them, and went quiet when VDV came on because he was moved out of position AGAIN.
