I seem to remember the game between Chelsea and Man City towards the end of last season was the first time that the cost of the two squads totaled more than £500m. And there we are we a squad that cost a paltry £86m.

Need to remember we also have the likes of Gomes (8m), Bentley (15m), Jenas (7m), Naughton (5m), Corluka (8m), Kranjcar (2.5m), Giovani (4.5m), Dawson (4m), Pienaar (3m) and Huddlestone (2.5m) in our squad too, but yes, our total cost is very small compare with others.

Nah he's rubbish. All he does is offer goals, creativity, energy, passion and skill.
Yeah and he still can't play on the right wing, track back expain whether we play 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 and he's done nothing to sort out our new stadium. What do we pay him for.

I think we should trade VdV to Stoke for Crouchy back.

a) We can't hoof the ball 50 yards up the field and then head it to their defenders/goalkeeper with VdV.

b) VdV either is not able to, or has not shown the audacity to do the robot. We need something more than just kissing the badge or running to the fans. We need the robot.

c) Hmm don't have any third reason but I am too lazy to stop touch typing to find the delete key.

All this love for VDV is all well and good but i'd wager both of my hairy testes that a half a dozen games without a goal will see him labelled as a passenger, a luxury or even 'shit'

Its how SC rolls.

Just to show how much money we might, (if we ever wanted to cash in) makee from this bunch, using what I think they are worth

Friedel (free)

Walker (7m) Kaboul (8m) King (Free) Assou-Ekotto (10m)

Lennon (10m) Parker (5m) Modric (35m) Bale (30m)

van der Vaart (15m)

Adebayor (Loan)

Subs: Cuducini (Free), Gallas (2m), Bassong (4m), Sandro (12m), Livermore (2m) Defoe (10m), Pavlyuchenko (7m).

Starting 11: 120m
Subs: 37m

wow, we have done well!

VdV is shit, and needs to be dropped soon however, waste of space, if you ignored his passing, goal, movement and effort he was invisible.

We turn down £40 million for Modric so you would let him go for £35 million? Any team would snap up Bale for £30 million and consider it a bargain. I wouldn't let either go for under £50 million. You have just had Joey Barton saying Modric is the best midfielder in the league by a mile.

To those asking me to come out and say i was wrong, i did that back on page 11 or 12 and all over the social networks.

At the end of the day, even if i think he didn't put it in the effort and track back etc, he's a luxury worth accomodating.

Just so i don't have to come back here and say it again

I. WAS. WRONG.

Fairplay mate. He has been rather special over the last few games.

Fair play.

Tbh I think you should slate another one of our players to see if it has the same affect on their season

They are conservative on purpose. I wouldnt let either go for £100 million.

I suspect Walker, to name but one, would go for more than you allow in a few years.

Also, as others have pointed out - £35 M for Modric when we have just turned down £40 M; and we could hold na raffle for Bale at £20 M a pop and sell at least 8 tickets

I honestly think VDV is a 20m man these days.

not with his knee he isn't, enjoy it now when he is fit and hope it lasts as long as possible.

 Real wanted double for him, and we only got him so cheap because they expected him to go, and needed to sell him (not for the money), and it got to the last minute. Any concerns over him will have dissipated by now, so it is likely that if he was on the market now he would attract far more attntion than he did, at at least the original price, if not more.

Walker £7m?!

Glen Johnson joined Liverpool for £18.5m, I think Walker has a tad more potential ;)

He's young, he's a rb, he's English, his vaue is EASILY double figures.

Who cares anyway, I love all our players at the moment, we are playing well, I hope we can keep hold of everyone, except maybe Pav (although that free kick was lovely) and Pienaar (would rather keep Kranky).

I'll give you the popping up with goals. More touches? He was meant to be playing off Adebayor on Sunday and instead of making intelligent runs and pulling defenders away, he dropped back to the 18 yard box to receive a ball, does 3 short passes between him and one player and then runs all the way back up front. DROP ME OUT. If you constitute that as 'covering ground' and more passes - more fool you.

I'll bump this thread when the time is right, and i'm the worst for saying i told you so.
