Looks like he can take penalties. Get him in.

They don't show the misses on youtube, though. If there are any....

Since he plays for Hoffenheim its 35 goals and 15 assists in 63 games in the Bundesliga and 5 goals and 4 assists in 11 games in the Cup. I would call that prolific.

Great player, really good header of the ball and good finisher. Great awareness of his teammates around him, thats why i always saw him more as the second striker than target man. Perfect for a 4-4-2 but dont know if he could play the lone striker. IMO would be an upgrade on Pav, Keane or Crouch, still need to see Defoe in some more games to decide where hes heading with VDV in our formation. But i dont think Ibisevic is the one special striker we all cry out for, thats his striking partner for Bosnia.

That is prolific and more or less the same as Dzeko's record at Wolfsburg.

Dzeko has scored 64 goals in 106 games for Wolfsburg. Relatively the same as Ibisevic and one could argue that Dzeko's has a better quality of player around him.

8M is frankly, a very good deal for this guy. Taking into consideration he's not cup-tied for Chmp Lge I say sign him up 'Arry :)

Ibisevic was looking a great prospect a couple of seasons ago but if I remember rightly, he picked up a serious knee injury and missed most of the season .... since then he hasn't been mentioned much. At 8 million euro's though, must be worth a punt, he can't be any worse than our mis-firing/passed their sell by date strikeforce?

I think he is one of those maybe strikers. He could be exactly what we are looking for but it could be out of his depth too. Especially since we need a striker to make a VdV style start to his premier league career.

Hmmm, Thowig not liking him (though Thowig is generally hard to please ;) ) makes me uneasy about my own evaluation, because thowig knows far more about Bundesliga than I do.

What does DP have to say on the matter? He's quite good for all things Lederhosen!

Don't get me wrong he's not terrible by any means I'm just not a huge fan. I think Demba Ba is the better player.

Yeah, he was on fire and hit 18 in 17 in the first half of the 08-09 season, then he did his ACL.

I've not seen anything of him since he returned from that.

For £6.5m I'd bite their hand off. Not to be our main #9, but to replace one of Keane or Pav and be our main back-up to someone like Benzema.

Tottenham are in talks with TSG Hoffenheim over signing striker Vedad Ibisevic , according to German reports.

The 4-4-2 Web site says Tottenham are willing to pay the Bundesliga outfit €8 million for the 26-year-old's services.
The Bosnian forward is a big, strong player who is great in air. He also has good vision and dribbling skills, and can peel off well to the flanks due to his pace.
When on song, Ibisevic is a ruthless finisher. He has scored four goals this season, and found the net 30 times over the previous two campaigns.
He has also scored seven goals in 26 appearances for his national team.
Ibisevic - who speaks fluent English, French and German - is contracted to Hoffenheim until 2013.

Anyone know about this guy, his attributes sound exactly what we're after!

The ability to play in earth's atmosphere is vital if we are to replace one of our strikers.

Sounds like a good option if we can't get a superstar - he seems clinical and good in the air, and a different kind of physique to our existing strikeforce. I'd like to see a bit more of his hold-up play to really decide if he was great, but for the kind of money in the article he'd definitely be worth replacing Keane with.

seems like he could be OK for no 2 striker but we need to do better for our main striker

Bit of a punt but on form he's electric. We'd arguably make money by moving someone else on and picking him up too.

Big problem for him will be the culture shock on London, he's from a small farming village in Bosnia... and to be honest Hoffenheim isn't much of a step up from that.

His family moved to St. Louis when he was a teenager and he played in high school/college there for several years. Saw an interview with him a year or so ago and his English is near-perfect a la Niko's. The US team let him slip through their fingers, especially with the US' lack of good strikers!

Good player but on about the Defoe/Pav level from my limited knowledge! Maybe we want him to partner/lure Dzeko

I feel Dan Ashcroft gets a bit of a bad rep on here, but I think its because he writes some good stuff and then lets himself down ala the last name in his sig:

In:
#9 – Benzema, Llorente or Gomez

CM – Diarra

Out: O'Hara, Jenas, Bentley, Keane and Defoe

Shame.
