I think that we have limited capacity to act unselfishly as moral agents. Vegans use up large chunks of their altruistic reserves on animal welfare and have little left to use on people. Think of the vegans you know - an irksome bunch - and you will realise that this is fact.

So veganism is okay for a selfish goal poacher - like Defoe, in fact - but we shouldn't encourage midfield playmakers to kick bacon.

As Bill Bailey pointed out, Hitler was a vegetarian so, in extreme cases it can lead to genocide.

How can you instantly tell if someone's vegan?

Oh - don't worry. They'll tell you ...

Nailsworth, population 5,794, is a village that is about to become the smallest place in the country ever to have a team in the Football League. That is Forest Green Rovers, who have just won promotion to League Two, on a vegan diet.

I told you all. The revolution is happening...

And so the main reason they played so well and got promoted was the fact they had a vegan diet?

Are the players actually vegan? I know they are vegan in terms of food at the stadium but not sure about the players.

I'm going to hunt down Sissoko and force feed him on cabbage and Brussel sprouts til the start of next season.

I went plant based for health and stayed vegan after witnessing what they were doing to dogs at the Chinese Yulin festival. I realised that my actions caused the same things to happen to other animals.
