He is miserable there, you can see it, and he gets beaten two or three times a game, can't recover when he's out of position (which is often). I know there aren't a lot of options but we are wrecking the spirit of an excellent player.

correct mate, he looks totally fucked off, and i won't be surprised if we lose him in Jan to Barca or someone.

Sounded like he landed awkwardly on his ankle and had to be helped off.

Could really do without him going down - especially in light of Rose's continued absence.

Was thinking maybe he's putting on the injury or at least making the most of it until Rose is back

He does look completely disinterested... But then he has looked a bit sulky all season. Whilst I sympathise with him in that he may not like playing there it is hardly a great attitude for a professional footballer to have, lets face it. The majority on here want him made captain as well.

I can see why he liked playing LB with Chadli. He was much more solid against United. He's getting very worrying at LB though and if he's fit for the next game then please don't persue with it.

He doesn't like playing there and I don't like watching him play there, but he does. Rose is out, we have no other choice. Naughton and Fryers are the alternatives and to be frank I'd rather play with 10 men.

So in other words man the fuck up Jan and play there. At Everton he was like superman, tonight he looked like he was running through mud. It's hardly slave labour is it? Play left back and play it well.

His attitude has been real shit ever since he had to go to LB. Moaning, doesn't look interested and is nowhere playing as well as he can. He looks fed up and not giving his all.

He needs to be mindful, if Kaboul regains form and with Vlad playing so well he may find himself on the bench more than he likes with that attitude

It must be frustrating for him, but it's a team game and you have to do what's needed sometimes, others I am sure would play wherever they had to just to get a game.

The lb situation is a joke really though, should never have happened in the first place

Need Rose back this is getting on my nerves! He was really starting to find good form before he went down, and the team has a much better shape when he's on the pitch.

He needs to man up.

If he's a supposed leader in this team, he needs to be professional enough to carry out his duties. Now he acts very prima donna like. If he slips, he stays down for a breather, if he gets a bad pass, he does his best Defoe impression.

Could you imagine a genuine leader like Jamie Carragher carrying out like that? I'd be inclined to start Naughton in his place. Not to put him down, but on pure merit.

Less than a month until the window opens, buy/loan/recall as needed.

Some of the criticism here is too harsh in my opinion. Yes he should play anywhere for the team but he's spent over half of his time here playing in a position he clearly doesn't like. The main reason he turned down arsenal is because he didn't want to play midfield, he wanted to play CB. He's not a fast player, he can read the game expertly but from a CB position. Course it would ruin your enjoyment if you're constantly getting beaten for pace by wingers or when you're constantly running up and down the wing when you're not that type of player. Full backs nowadays have to be one of the fittest players on the pitch and he's not built for that. He's built for tank work in defence. He may play LB for Belgium but it's different because it's your national side and you'd probably play in goal if needed, especially as it's only once in a while.

If I was him I'd be looking to leave if we don't sign a LB ASAP. He could play for pretty much anyone in the world as a CB or stay here and get constantly used out of position. I feel sorry for him. We have one of the best CB's in the world and he hasn't played there pretty much all season. Waste.

I'd rather play Verts at CB than LB. And If we have to play Chiriches there until Rose gets better.

BTW Rose's foot injury is taking longer than Rooney's metatarsal

How can we go about convincing Vert that he should stay at left back? I feel he's done amazingly there and has been getting forward more than usual that I thought he liked doing.

For us to have a defensive line of..
Walker Kaboul Vlad Vertonghen
Makes me very happy. I have a lot of confidence in that line up.

Come on Vert, sort it out.
