Hah. I was just thinking about Coulibaily. It's a volume business at that age. Buy plenty cheap, hope one or two develop into a senior squad player but small risk.

Coulibaly has joined me in relocating to Peterborough along with other former Spurs legend Ben Alnwick.

Nigeria have won the WC U-17 for the 3rd time (in a row I think) but none of their players made it "big". I hope for the best if Spurs have in fact signed him but my hopes are not that high.
Iheanacho looks like he's got a real chance at breaking through at City - has been impressive this season, but yeah, it's a punt nothing more, taking this guy. How he settles to life off the pitch is totally unpredictable for one.

Yahaya won't be able to sign until the window opens in Jan I wouldn't have thought. I doubt he would be able to sign a youth contract.

Why don't you think he'd be able to come in on a youth contract were he to sign? He would be a 2nd year on a pro and I don't believe he is currently tied to a club so he wouldn't need to move during window right? I don't know just asking

Might have something to do with the Nigerian or African leagues in general being of poor quality, so the best have to find new clubs generally in alien settings with new languages and many struggle to adapt.

You can't get a work permit without a pro contract, an I doubt we would be able to sign him as a pro until the Jan window opens.

It is a really strange situation as a couple of websites have him listed as playing for a Mozambique team now (signed in 2015) called Clube Ferroviário de Maputo.

If he is at another club he would def have to wait till Jan, so apologise for spouting incorrect info earlier. So I guess we won't have our answer till Jan.

There are only 2 sites showing him as being in there squad, a Brazilian website that lists us as a former club and Transfermarkt, that has no mention of us in his history, so far from conclusive. I also haven't found any articles about him joining them.

Anyone checked the age on his passport?

Assume this is a joke but if not he is 17 28th December one of the youngest there. They also have testing methods to prove they're appropriate ages. Apparently they have found that bones in your wrist don't fuse together when you're 17 and below and it's found across all countries, and they're all tested via that method and I believe.

It wasn't funny so why dignify this idiot's comment with an explanation?

If Yahaya signed I think it would be in December, when he turns 18.

Also we have strikers but arguably not enough (Azzaoui was a winger btw). Harrison and Sterling are both talented but neither ready yet, Loft is decent. Having him would definitely strengthen and he looks like he has potential. I would imagine he would be behind Harrison still but could overtake if he adapts physically straight away and hits the ground running
I fucking love Sterling, but think he needs some growing time and a full season of U21s at minimum.

Think Harrison needs to physically mature as well and I'm still torn on whether playing as a lone striker is the best position for him in the future.

Windy posted on twitter yesterday that he's currently training with the development squad and will be signing a work permit in December - whether he's right or not, i'm not sure...

They've won it twice in a row, and it's held every 2 years so to say "none of the players have made it big" is a bit harsh considering the 2013 winners are still aged around 18-19.

I dont know how they're doing it but the talent coming through from Nigeria is scary and I'm glad we're getting a piece of it tbh. We got the real gem in Yahaya and having watched a fair bit of the tourny I think we've added another kid who's got a real chance. The lad that City are chasing was the pick of the crop this time, Kelechi Nwakali, superb talent.

Ah nice! Everything Ive seen of this lad looks good! He seems to have good balance & looks comfortable going on to either foot which, for me, always shows that a player has natural ability. Not a big lad either so his quality can't be put down to being bigger than the rest which again is a good sign.

Will be interesting to track his development over the next year or so!
