I have that feeling the Chelscum are all over this.

7 million euros actually seems like a very fair price considering the skillset he has shown.

Lots of reports Luiz is off so could this be a replacement for them?

If Luiz goes they will want a replacement who can step in and be world class immediately. Not sure a 7m rated Romanian kid fits the bill.

I just really hope it's not Eliaquim Mangala. That guy is a monster and I don't want to see our guys go up against him.

Vlad Chiriches as seen by a Steaua fan:

He's a well raised young man with a great work ethic that he shows in training. he doesn't waste time in night clubs, i can't remember ever reading this kind of news about him. he's a bit shy, but like decent shy, not introvert shy, he is respected by his team mates, he doesn't get into conflicts with any of them or the coaches, a good team player on and off the field.. a good kid basically.

Now about his footballing skills, cause that's what matters the most i suppose...

Pluses: great technique, vision and positioning for a CB, can score from far away, covers well and sees the game, fast and agile (well over your average central defender), jumps high (i remember this from an interview of Steaua's coach, that he has the highest jump from a standing position than all the other players). Has played quite a few european matches and is a regular in Romania's national team starting 11, so he's definitely not inexperienced at the higher levels (he also stayed with Benfica for a season when he was under 20, so being in a new country wouldn't be a first for him). And his vest asset atm in my opinion: he still has a lot of potential, even if he's almost 24 now.

Minuses: plays risky sometimes, trying to get out of defence with the ball at his feet as often as possible and he has been critiqued in the past for making costly mistakes because of that, he's not very solid physically (1,84 and 75 kg, a bit bony), which could be an issue in England... then dealing with crosses in defence is not one of his strongest abilities, that's for sure (which again is a minus for any defender who plays in EPL). And another minus could be his slight shyness, like i said before he's not introverted, but maybe being too nice could be damaging in a locker room with big egos and top class players.. or it wouldn't, that's to be seen.

that's about it, overall i think he is one of the best talents in Europe on his position atm, but i don't think England suits him. I'm pretty sure Italy would be the best choice for him right now, and Roma seems to still be close to getting him. so i don't think he'll end up at Tottenham.

Kaboul has bone-on-bone in his knee now and no guarantee that he'll ever return to full fitness. Jan is out with ligament damage and Dawson is about 70 years old. I don't think we really need to sell to buy on this one. Chiriches can cover DM too, so maybe Parker will be the one to give way.

interesting if true, seems AVB may not rate caulker too highly and i'm not so sure i'd blame him, unfortunately it may also mean there are concerns over kabouls fitness, would be a real shame if we can't get verts and youness settled as a CB pairing at the back, it has all the potential of a top pairing.

Didn't realise he was a DM too. I can just see us loaning Caulker out for a season (depending on Kaboul) to improve.

According to him, Chiriches will be holding any foreign team will transfer. 'If you receive a paycheck than triple Steaua's normal to leave. Chiriches will be holding everywhere he goes, I bet.'s football. Celeban's best footballer, but he can not replace Chiriches. If you do not qualify It is a drama and even Romanian football star.'s not a problem if you remove Chelsea, but if you remove Tbilisi Gigi Becali would suffer ... Another article that mentions us, sounds like we are the favorites because Milan only want a loan-to-buy:

Star Chiriches can break up before League groups: "We double result with Dinamo for deciding" What the spy team in last 6 matches:
Steaua player's agent Victor Becali told Calciomercato.com Star quarterback is very close to a transfer to a strong team. This revealed that AC Milan has sent scouts to last 6 games of the Star but have not yet made a concrete offer, but another team is closer to blue-red quarterback.Tottenham is about, the English planning to make a bid for 7 euro milioande "Milan and Tottenham are interested in the transfer of Chiriches. Italians came to see him but have not made a formal offer, and the English double Dinamo Tbilisi will wait to decide whether to buy, "said Victor Becali. Steaua defender had other plans but came from Newcastle, wanting to keep it up to qualify for Champions League but the final decision will belong to Gigi Becali, who still leads the club in Ghencea businesses. advantageous tender as Tottenham came from England is willing to pay all the money at once, unlike Milan who would prefer a loan with option to buy .

Wow. Looks very good on the ball-check
Has an eye for a pass-check
Has some pace-check
Long range shot-check
Scores with bicycle kick!-check

Whats not to like about this guy. For the money it seems a no brainer for me!;)

The only down side is that he is barely 6ft tall, which I think is why Citeh & Chelski were put off.

From that Youtube video, I see no reason why he can't play right back and then move into the middle once he's used to the league.

Spurs close to landing Steau’s Vlad Chiriches.

Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Romanian defender Vlad Chiriches, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

The self-confessed “expert in the transfer market” says the Steau Bucharest star will complete an €8m switch to White Hart Lane in the coming days.

Let's get him. For that price, this is deal we can't lose on. Exactly the kind of signing we should be seeing more of under Baldini. A good squad addition with plenty of scope to cement himself as a starter in the future. For a low fee, by today's standards.

Didn't LLM say there was a medical booked in for today? With Soldado and Bale going on, perhaps it has gone under the radar?
