Quite like Quagliarella, 4mil sounds like a decent fee too, happy enough if that deal came to fruition.

I'm not convinced, i think it's a bit of a standing still signing.
Like for like, Defoe out Quag in. Also seems a bit desperate signing, that we're forced to sign someone, but not getting who we really need. Can he play together with Soldado at all? Or will he just be a pure back up for him?

Both good players, talented and clever on the ball, skillful and have vision. Neither scores enough goals really, and bringing that at 30 to a new league would be hard. We do need a striker though, and given that Adebayor and Soldado are the first choice strikers, we can't spend massive sums as whoever we get, unless he is surprisingly good and improves us more than we expected, will be someone who doesn't start regularly, but comes off the bench most games. Basically, any forward we sign is a Defoe replacement. There guys are superbly talented, seemingly available cheaply, and if we went for one of them I'd go for Vucinic just because he'd be more able to play with Soldado than Quagliarella, but I can't help but feel we're better off going domestic on this one, someone who is already proven to a certain point (even if not brilliant) in this league. Fuck knows who that is, who is available for squad player prices, who is actually good enough for us too, but if there is someone who fits that description then it's preferable. Otherwise, if we're going to fish abroad, I'd rather get someone young and potentially very good.

That said, I'm not overly scared of the idea of signing nobody, having Chadli and Lamela pushing and competing with Adebayor and Soldado, and maybe even pushing through Kane.

I'd like to sign him, he can play as a left sided forward can't he? Or am I imagining that I've seen him play there? He'd bring something new to the squad though and would be able to link up with any of our other forwards.

Link on Newsnow from The Mirror reporting that Baldini is flying out to Turin to try and do the deal. Probably bullshit.

I mentioned the possible Quagliarella bid elsewhere, and somebody responded with this......

"Quagliarella....No thanks, not going to improve us. Not started more than 17 games in the past 4 seasons. Defour, again not for me. 8 starts for Porto this season tells us something.

Now, if you are looking for a relative cheap option striker wise, a player who i liked the look off last season, igive you...Scocco of Internacional. LW, RW,AM and striker. What a shot this lad has, great penalty taker (topho) scores all manner of goals. Argentinian, A mate for Lamela. £5 million tag placed on his head by his club. Sunderland interested. Some suggested a striker who can beat his man, do something out of the ordinary. This 28 year old ticks all the boxes. Not going to be your hold up man, but you play him anywhere in the final 3rd and give him license to roam, watch him go. Check out the hammer shot at about 1m43secs. I think he's worth all of £5 million. Career goals of approx 1 in 2 games. Here's him doing his thing..Enjoy!.
"

Can anyone confirm or deny his suggestions ability? That YouTube clip is football porn!!

Crikey Coops he looks the business....but hes probably owned by the Club, his dad, his uncle, & the next door neighbor ect ect. Plus i just cannot see Timothy going all exotic? hes looking at the bringing some of the Youth through and maybe trimming the 1st team a tad hence the rumours of Chadli and Holtby leaving on Loan or Permanently. As for Vucinic and Quagliarella cant see it being both. Sounds like the usual Paper drivel Try and take one on loan maybe with a view to a permanent deal?.

Well mate, to be fair, IF the rumours are true about Quaglierella, then we can live in hope about that football porn guy lol

It gets even better (or worse lol). The same guy who suggested Scocco, also just said this to me....

"coops..Are you suggesting you like Scocco?. It is no bullsheit! Internacional have placed the £5 million fee on his head. It now emerges he is free to leave on loan also this window. Now that is exactly the kind of player and deal we should be banging on their door to get done. The lad can play. Thanks for taking the time to watch the link. He scored 30 goals in 46 games last season for Newell's old boys."

The player from that clip above, on loan?

Scocco Looks like a proper player would love him but didn`t he go back to Argentina for family reasons ?
Quagliarella I like also more mobile than Soldado so a different option...

I have asked the guy who mentioned him, mate. I'll obviously report any answer he gives (y) . I'm fully into this not though, I asked him for more info, so he sent me this from The Bleacher Report, the last sentence may actually answer your question ;).....

The following from Bleacher report back in June 2013. Again, Ignacio Scocco the player in question.

A tremendous dribbler with an eye for goal, Scocco is currently at the peak of his powers. He has wowed fans of Newell's Old boys since returning from a six years stint in foreign lands with some stunning strikes that led him to the top of the goalscorer's charts in Argentina.

Such is his run of form that he has sometimes drawn comparisons to a certain Lionel Messi for the way in which he cuts in from the right and weaves past panicked defenders to create scoring chances.

Capable of poaching goals or cracking them in with tremendous power from distance, the threat he offers as an attacking player is multi-faceted and very difficult to defend against. The man they call "Nacho" is such a complete forward at present that it is hard to see him not contributing something to a European club.

Where to Next?.....As reported by Sky Sports, Sunderland recently tried to tempt Scocco to the Premier League, but the player's agent made it clear it would take an offer from a club competing in the Champions League to really pique his interest. Scocco will most likely see out 2013 with Newell's, who are mounting a Copa Libertadores challenge, before looking at offers from abroad, however there is always the chance a healthy bid could see him moving this June.

Think we'd be best off buying both personally. Vucinic's ability to play wide is certainly useful, whilst Quag will give us goals (in theory). Get the duo in for £10m-£15m. Not a bad price.

We'd have PLENTY of options up top then. If I had to choose though, I'd go Vucinic. More adaptable, stronger, tireless etc.

Nope, just look at that fella (Scocco) in that clip above. Ignore Quagmire & Vulcan, get Scorcio in instead (y)

Confirmation here that he IS available for loan, and that Poyet would like him at Sunderland. So, loan to a relegation battle, or to a club trying to get in the CL?

I get it, you like Scocco. I've seen bits and pieces of him myself, pretty skilful, but there's a good reason why he hasn't played at a higher level than the Greek league at the age of 28.

First Berbatov, now Vucinic, why does Wenger have a hard-on for mardy as anything, wildly inconsistent strikers all of a sudden?
