Not good enough by anyone but fuck me if we'd won two headers we would have won that.

Unacceptable to lose to a couple of naff set plays while at the same time having a ton of corners and creating nothing.
Dealing with crosses into the box has been a problem for a few seasons now and clearly still a problem despite all the height we have in the side.
Having said that Watford wanted it more than us we just wilted when put under any pressure not looking forward to the Liverpool game that's for sure.

Why do you and a few others get so annoyed at the “spursy” term? Quite apt today I would say

Perhaps because it's self depreciating and gets churned out every time we draw and lose. It's akin to the fat ginger kid with glasses at school shouting "I'm the fat ginger kid with glasses". Or perhaps it's because it's lost its original meaning which was essentially "when it's impossible to fuck up, spurs fucked up", a 2-1 away defeat to a team high on confidence sitting unbeaten is not "spursy", being 4-0 up at 80 mins then losing 7-4 would be the true definition.

The 3 in the back formation needs to stop. We concede a goal everytime we play this way. As much I like Sanchez, we cannot continue to give the midfield to the opposition.

On the very only bright side of this dreadful game: Winksy entered the game very well.

The signs were there in he first half against United to be fair. We could easily have been 3-0 down at old Trafford during the first 45 minutes. Pochettino said straight out that he wasn't satisfied with that performance despite the result. We simply have no response to teams when they play physical and aggressively. Kane, Eriksen, Dembele looked lackadaisical for large spells of the match.

This won't go down well with the doom and gloom army but I put this performance down to the WC and the bulk of our squad not having a proper pre-season. It's glaringly obvious in my opinion. As long as our best players play on 75% we will continue to struggle.

The WC was always going to haunt us at some point during the season. It was just a question of when. Kudos to Watford though, they will cause problem to a lot of top teams this season.

All I can say about that game is winks looked good when he came on. Like the pre injury winks that was talked of as an England starter...

Hopefully will get more minutes now.

Winks looked really good when came on. I still think that Mauricio Pochettino should have introduced Eric Dier as soon as we took the lead. COYS

What I find astonishing is that most all of us here could see that the shape we were playing was not working and that after going 1-0 up Watford were by far the better team. We were basically under massive pressure and it was not for a minute or two but a prolonged spell. We could see an equalizer coming and the commentators could see it coming (as they wouldn't shut the fuck up about Watford) and basically every man and his dog could but Poch did nothing.

I think these are the times that frustrate us most as supporters as we are not paid x-million a year to manage the team but it was so patently obvious we needed to make a change. I often wonder if Poch is stubborn like this to prove some kind of point to the team or to Levy that we are not as good as we could be or should be. I don't know, all I know is I sometimes I cannot see the wood for the trees but I could see a change was needed so what followed as Watford won the game was painfully inevitable.

Son's just played six games in 18 days and offered very little threat against Asian teenagers. I wouldn't bet on him making an immediate impact. He needs a proper rest and recovery.
And that was straight of the back of a World Cup and pre season US tour. I really think he will be massively jaded and won't be able to offer what we need for a while.

Christian Eriksen has been absolutely dog shit this season. He has no excuse whatsoever, there’s players who’ve not had a pre season out performing him.
But who replaces him seeing as we were the only club who took the decision to buy no-one this leaves us with a lack of competition for places within certain areas of the squad.

Second half it felt like we lost every 50-50.. physically bullied at times by Watford's strength and commitment. I could feel it coming when Sanzhes bounced of Deeney.. :(

Dembélé gave away such a stupid freekick when he should have had control as the ball was already away from the Watford player. The main way Watford were going to get goals would be from set-pieces, so avoid giving them the opportunity.
At that point in the game you could see Dembele getting dragged all over the pitch, which highlights the problem in having him as your DM, he's not going to be all over it like Kante and he'll tire after about 5 minutes of doing it. That then led to him making the stupid tackle as he just got desperate and too tired to try run with the man. Winks should have been on much much sooner, at least I feel Winks has more energy to roam around.

Am I the only one getting really fucked off with Alli's show pony performances? He may produce the odd bit of magic, but 95% of the time he is a complete passenger. Until we get someone to challenge him for his place or Poch rakes him over the coals he is going stagnate big time!!

He's just not a top level central midfielder, maybe in future but at this stage of his career it is not where his qualities lie. But fans, media, and now unfortunately both Spurs and England managers seem determined to reinvent him.

He's a 'space finder' player, similar to the likes of Thomas Muller. Just get him operating in and around the penalty area where his instinct at sniffing space/opportunities and finishing (and a few flair moments as a bonus) there are few better. There it doesn't matter so much if he is guilty of playing too slowly at his own pace, or dispossessed doing something silly/overambitious, there is cover behind him. In deeper positions his propensity to do the over-elaborate, and reluctance to move the ball quickly, or have ability to carry the ball quickly up the pitch, becomes much more in focus. And that doesn't even mention the off the ball/defensive aspects of the game.....

Yes he was able to charge forward quite a bit today, but he's being asked to be more disciplined at times rather than setting him free. And him wanting to rush forward from the CM role has knock on effects on the midfield/individual players, our ability to control, and leaves us more open.

Some might read this as a post just bashing him, but it isn't meant to be, rather a lament of taking him out of his (in my opinion) best role and less focus on him using his best qualities.

I don't have much bad things to say about our side, except that Vorm is absolutely horrid. Hugo would've saved those goals. Vorm stays absolutely frozen in goal.. He was the same way in the Semi-Final against United. We need to give Gazzaniga a chance.

agree that Poch should have switched to 4 at the back and added another midfielder once they started bashing us. just subbing Winks for Dembele wasnt enough even if he'd done it earlier. it seemed clear to me during the game the only change that would have helped was pulling off a CB,
