But who replaces him seeing as we were the only club who took the decision to buy no-one this leaves us with a lack of competition for places within certain areas of the squad.
Lamela imo.

Lamela has done more than Eriksen has all season in his brief 25 minute stint in the Fulham game.

A fully fit Winks will do just fine
That's the problem though, he's only just coming back and we don't know if his ankle will hold up. Which is why Dembele played the majority of the game. Add to that Wanyama's injury, dembele not usually able to do 90. Leaving only Dier as the only CM that can be relied in going into this season.

We needed one more CM and it caught up with us today.

I don't have much bad things to say about our side, except that Vorm is absolutely horrid. Hugo would've saved those goals. Vorm stays absolutely frozen in goal.. He was the same way in the Semi-Final against United. We need to give Gazzaniga a chance.

Rubbish. Defenders at fault.

This really highlighted our lack of quality in cm. Total lack of control in midfield at any time during the match.

Sissoko may have had more defensive discipline than some.

People knock Sissoko but he has the physicality for games like this off the bench he is useful to come on kick a few people and run with the ball 20-30 yards into the oppositions half to relieve the pressure.

Christian Eriksen has been absolutely dog shit this season. He has no excuse whatsoever, there’s players who’ve not had a pre season out performing him.
Thought he was great at OT but maybe he's tired? Didn't he come straight from the WC back to training or am I imagining that?

At that point in the game you could see Dembele getting dragged all over the pitch, which highlights the problem in having him as your DM, he's not going to be all over it like Kante and he'll tire after about 5 minutes of doing it. That then led to him making the stupid tackle as he just got desperate and too tired to try run with the man. Winks should have been on much much sooner, at least I feel Winks has more energy to roam around.
Did Poch not trust a two-man central defence? What does Kane offer when defending set-pieces and wouldn't it be better having him guarding a corner? Once ahead, why don't we slow it with possession football for ten mins?

Sadly it's games like this that show we are not good enough to win a major trophy. We have some good players when we are on form but our bench is not strong or good enough to change things when we are not. A big worry for me is that Kane has looked jaded and looks to have lost some confidence since the last couple of games of the WC. Today on a couple of occasions he changed his mind when in a good position and the chance was gone in the past he would have shot on sight.
It makes Dier and Poch's continual comments about not needing to buy players and the other clubs have wasted their money on big spends a bit of a joke really. Also the fact that we are prepared to sell Aldo, Rose and Dembele and having sold Walker (who is now a PL winner) last season because we don't like them telling the truth doesn't show a lot of ambition to me.
City and L'pool will pull well clear of the rest I just hope we manage 3rd or 4th and maintain CL again. I believe we will. I don't expect to win it but I enjoy the big nights.

For me the prob is largely our big 3 not doing it . Eriksen an obvious one , even short passes were sometimes too hard for him and he's never a serious ball winner . Dele put in the effort to recover the ball alright but not much else.

Harry , just isn't our Harry . He's become a mortal since the injury . He no longer can create goals for himself . Even that simple pass across to Moura was too much for him .

No change in defence is gonna affect this central issue we have atm

We had Winks on the bench who does just that.
Poch should have subbed the lumbering Dembele well before he did.

Dembele should be used from the bench, he's a proven beast for 40 minutes max. The fact that we are having to play him twice for 90 minutes shows we needed a CM badly.

I don't think he creates enough to justify that he runs around a lot put tackles in but for me he lacks that something to be more effective imo.
As I've stated as nauseum, last season before the hip injury he had better assist stats than Eriksen. He also doesn't pull out of tackles.

Could have been 2-0 if Kane hadn’t fucked up when he went through but in reality we haven’t played well enough and lost, really all of our games so far could have went either way, we haven’t played great in any, and our luck ran out. We needed to strengthen to win things this year, we still have weaknesses that still need addressed, Davies was awful as was Rose last week. Our bench didn’t look great if we went behind today and so it proved.

It was piss poor defending and Hugo probably would’nt have saved those goals either.

Lots of questions. We still have a lot to learn
