Thats a more serious fee and I'm not sure if we should go above that. Might be finished and dead.

Ridiculous if they've legitimately rejected his transfer request and now this more than reasonable fee. Honestly didn't even realize a transfer request could be rejected, forcing someone to stay against their will is just madness.

How did you feel about us refusing to accept Chelsea's offer for Modric when he wanted to leave?

Not worth 22m. Stupid situation to get in but we do it all the time. Where is Frazier Campbell these days?

If we really really want this player then we should just pay the £25m that has been bandied about and be done with it as there are not many strikers around with the profile we are looking for. The fact that Sterling went for almost £50m and Benteke for £32m only pulls up the value of deals like this one.

£22 million is silly money for this kid. Trouble is there is a real shortage of striking talent, not surprising with most clubs playing with only one striker right down to schoolboy level.

We should go in for Austin; with Kane's ability to pull strings from deeper they could easily play together, while either could work up front on their own.

Its all about saving face for WBA now.........they will lose out on Fazio as well IF this does not go through.

But I've been told it will go through once 'the dance' has run its course.

We are £12M up on transfers, if Levy has not put Sky money aside for transfers or we cant shift Lennon or Ade, then we are in danger of
Berahino being our only signing when we need 2/3. because everybody knows we only have 1 striker and will hold us to ransom, what a bloody stupid situation to put yourselves in!!!!!

£25m for Berahino would be a good deal for both WBA and Spurs. Assuming they accept.

Granted we are paying top dollar, but we are doing so for someone who has had a good season in the Premier League, is only 22, could forge a partnership with Harry Kane at both club and International level, gives us something different up front (pace and directness toward goal), someone who can play down the middle or as a WF and someone who wants to come to Tottenham without interest (at present) from the richer clubs and adds a HG player to our squad (though we have plenty).

That's a long enough list to justify his fee in today's market (Benteke, Firminho etc)

Wonder if the £18m to £22m bid has anything to do with the Fazio £5m transfer being called off?
