Bit worried now if we do get him some will be more worried about what he costs (see Darren Bent) than what he does on the pitch!

If we are being honest we have not got a scooby what is happening.....

Spot on. The 22m quoted could be with all sorts of clauses and possible add-ons. Naturally they will try to drag this out to make a bigger profit, but my guess is he will be a Spurs player in a week's time. We are running a huge risk by leaving it so late, but it could well be another deadline day cliffhanger.

£22m sounds daunting, but I would be very surprised if this was our "pay-up-front" offer. The press will always print the highest figure they can. Our usual negotiating strategy, especially for younger players, is to offer about 50% of the total fee up front and the rest conditional upon targets relating to appearances, international appearances and trophies.

But the headline figure always gets remembered, so it will forever be "WBA rejected £22m", not "WBA rejected £10m, plus £12m of payments that may never materialise".

Also, people should bear in mind that this is fucking up West Brom's start to the season more than ours. Recall that we were in the same position as they are now, when Modric, Berbatov and Bale were keen to leave.

Martial for 30m Monaco would surely accept and he was our first preference. Before upping our bid for Berahino, I'd give Monaco a call to check on chances for Martial at 30m. Especially if they're knocked out chmp lge tonight.

Pedro went for less than 22m? I don't know what to think anymore but surely we won't go above 22m??

Not worth 22m. Stupid situation to get in but we do it all the time. Where is Frazier Campbell these days?

If the fee is true then it makes you wonder why we didn't get MS.

22 million for a 20 goal a season young striker is worth it but i hope that the deal is done soon or i can only see the second coming of Pav being an alternative.

You know Fazio couldn't agree personal terms with them right?
Yes, I know. But if we really wanted the deal, we could lower our asking price, which could allow WBA to pay Fazio more. Not that I wanted ridiculous reduction in our asking price, but this is one way to get things done.

I would suggest that our season has been fucked up as you put it far more than WBA's.

At least they have more than one option to lead the line whether their star striker starts or not.

Show me any professional football team playing with a single striker going into the fourth game of a season and that club is indeed fucked up.

If Kane is valued at £40m, then surely Berahino is worth £25m? Both England under-21, both scored plenty last season.

Can't believe how confident so many of our fans are that we will get this guy. Can only assume this is their first season as a Spurs fan, as last time I checked we never signed Schneiderlin, Moutinho, Leandro Damaio, Benteke, etc, etc, despite the fact that ITK told us they were as good as done and in most cases the players (or their agents) pretty much admitted they wanted to come.

I expect Levys offer of £22M was made up like this:

£12M in payments over 10 years,
Fazio valued at £10M,
and WBA to pay a percentage of Adebayors wages when he goes to West Ham.

Levy's transfer strategy is outdated now and spurs are looking right Charlie's.if we want him we should have offered 25m from the outset and done the deal or moved on. Too predictable and with a week to go starting to look desperate. Two pivotal positions should be recruited better than this....

Ok, time to bin this one. They're taking the fucking piss. I'd rather just play Chadli at point than get super rinsed for this player.

Then watch us slip down the league with out support for Kane. Most sides have 3 and some 4 strikers we have one. Berahino is worth 25 mil on todays prices. He's young and very talented and has played well with Kane in the U21's.
Some saying WBA are taking the piss I think asking 15 mil for Townsend is taking the piss.
With there being no deal now for Berahino we will probably be rushed in to panic buying again if we buy anyone at all.

I really despair at our transfer dealings. Having recognised where we needed to strengthen at the end of the season we should have had the players in in July ready for the start of the season like most other clubs have.

25mil my anus.

Benteke is not worth 32 mil and Sterling is not worth 40 but that's the price. The same goes for Van Bruin? 50 mil and many more in this transfer window. So 25 mil for a young international striker is still a good deal.

Don't get you knickers in a twist cos' WBA don't like us for unsettling their player everybody does it
.
We needed him and a couple more but the time is running out fast.

first off we don't know the personal terms were to do with money, secondly the transfer fee and wages are separate finances, it doesn't work like that.
