. So i dont want to hear anymore of this " harry cant take us to the next level" talk because he has, he has taken us away from relegation scraps

Sorry I don't agree with this, under Jol we finished 5th twice, the next level from that is surely 4th

The season isn't over, if we go on to reach the cup final and claim 4th, he would have passed my expectations and taken us to the next level as you say, but at the same time we could still finish 7th or even 8th, still too early to tell and it's a fine line between success and failure this season it's that close

The other thing I don't agree with, is that we were not a relegation team, we were a team that was underperforming and low on morale, myself I never got that worried with our start, I thought it was only a matter of time before we pulled away from the relegation zone, our squad was far too good to stay there over a full 38 game season, if Harry had say Hull's squad to work with, I would fully agree with you here

Harry did a fine job turning that around and we just missed out on Europe, closer to our true potential and status, he has taken us on from then, but 4th is the next level for me and time will tell

Liverpool fans are smug gits who live in a fantasy world. Some of my best friends are Liverpool fans and I hate them. Spurs will show them the light.
I assume you hate Liverpool, not your best friends?:wink:

about time someone made a thread praising Harry, he is a class manager

Im happy with the response to this thread. I was expecting some of us to say its just a long paragraph of nothing. there is always a minority that disagrees bu clearly alot fo us fans agree with the content of this thread.

I can add my name to the list of wasn't-that-keen-on-the-idea-of-Harry-but -boy-has-he-exceeded-expectations. At this point you can't really argue with anything he's done during his tenure at Spurs. The interesting thing is that every time his critics come up with a stick to beat him with, he comes up trumps - Keane favouritism: shunt him off to Celtic; Bentley is crap, why play him?: no wait a minute he can play a bit after all when his attitude is right; Pav should play: teach him how to really work hard for his place and then get him playing like a demon; Kaboul/Gudjonsen, what's the point of these signings?: - last Saturday the clear response to this one.

He may not be a master tactician, but his (and presumably his team's) handling of players and ability to motivate is absolutely second to none. I'd agree with those who say even if we get knocked out of the FA cup and miss out on CL, it's been a season of great progress. The future is bright.

Whats impressed me most is the way that he talks openly about our players and they seem to work harder for him. Certain managers use the press to their advantage i.e Mourinho, where they state something and their players either like or dislike what has been said. 'Arry has openly criticised a number of players in his time with Spurs (Bentley, Bent etc) and then he sees it as a test of character how they react. Bent went downhill and looked like a lost little boy whereas Bentley & Pav have reacted superbly and are working very hard for the team.

I think he deserves credit for this approach as it sorts the men from the boys, the ones who can take criticism and then turn it into a positive stay and the ones who cant are shown the door. Lets keep our good season going & get 4th! COYS!

I'm a confessed harry hater before he arrive. Hate is no longer a relevant term but I think he's hesitant on subs and tactically during games he's lacked insight.

His intial team set up is decent and his motivation work at halftime more often than not effective as we very ofternb follow up a poor first half with a good second without making any shape or personnel changes.

As a manger he mixes up his styles well and leans ever so slightly to passing football which I’m happy with.

Most of all though I think he’s got something all mangers need, LUCK. Luck in games in terms of decisions and moments yes but more so Luck on selection. Bale (twice), Pav & Bently. All of them only in the side because of injuries to first team players and all of them to a greater or lesser extent were on their way out at Harry’s bequest.

Praise harry because on the whole he deserves it but in the interests of fairness and accuracy acknowledge the fact he’s been very wrong about a few things but lucky enough that his mistakes were rectified before he had a chance to see them through.

I’m not sure Jol or Hoddle (waits for abuse) had the same luck.

i was thinking "we are so lucky that levy finally gave up on his 'continental system'"; but harry's done the job, so your way works, too.

Yes agree - CL is the next level. Of course time will tell but to say he's not the manager to take us there is ridiculous.

We've been 4th for most of the season and have had an absolutely shocking run of injuries (though we can't put all dropped points down to that). We were 4th until the last day of the season under Jol and then the virus so he could have been that manager except for cruel luck.

I always thought 'Arry was a bit dodgy but I always had a soft spot after an interview he did when somebody caught him pissed up at the races. It was after his first season in the Prem with Pompey and he questioned which other managers could have done that for a total outlay of about £2m. He said Fergie, Wenger and possibly Allardyce I think. Actually listed their names. Quality

think you misread my post, I said he hadn't taken us to the next level yet, as we haven't finished 4th yet

thats the part I didn't agree with in my reply, I didn't agree with saying he has taken us to the next level already, time will tell if he will as I said

I didn't mean he will not take us to the next level

4th best defensive record in the EPL this season behind Villa, Man Yoo and Chelski, never thought i'd see that from Spurs. 'Arry and his staff have done a fantastic job, consistency is now the key.

This is true for alot of others so called top managers too. A really close friend of mine is a fanatic Arsenal supporter and he is often very frustrated at Wenger's reluctancy to change things up with subs.

There was a Modric interview in the Times today I think where he highlighted how scary Redknapp is at half time when they are not playing well. And as you say, we often improve in the second half.

Most of all though I think he’s got something all mangers need, LUCK. Luck in games in terms of decisions and moments yes but more so Luck on selection. Bale (twice), Pav & Bently. This is also a very good point but I don't feel it's true to the same extent this season as it was last. That win against Liverpool where Pav was told to just run around a bit is the most extreme example. We played horribly (or rather they were very good) but we stole it anyway. Harry's team has that little angel sitting on it's shoulder it seems.

Really surprised we don't hear sung more "Harry Redknapps, Blue and White Army"
I always heard it under Jol, and Ramos, but can't remember it last sung under Redknapp, it certainly wasn't sung last night, or I didn't hear it.

Remember Ramos having it sung for about 15 minutes non stop in the game we were losing at home against Seville in the Uefa Cup, just don't understand why its not sung like that to one of our best managers we have had.
