I somewhat like him as i feel he has his uses, but it was an odd decision to start him against two of the best centre backs in the world. who happen to be strong and very good in the air, and it was obvious after 30 minutes that he wasnt going to win any kind of knock down. even VDV got on the end of a header by using his brain a running across Vidic

So if he isnt going to win any knock downs then what good is he? its a rare event to have him score in the league so im just shocked harry though he was worth a full match, there was nothing for 90 plus minutes:-|

crouch is 10 times more likely to get an assist against certain opposition (definitely not the best CB pairing in europe)

but roman is 10 times more likely to score

Well I don't think it is kneejerk to say Crouch is not doing his fair share of scoring, we are nearing February and he still has just the one league goal doesn't he ?

Surely comes a time when the penny drops, for both Harry and staunch Crouch fans and we all realise he just isn't up to the same standard as our midfield, our midfield can't be doing all the scoring, all the time, when Crouch plays, unfortunately they have to do just that.

It is not reliable to rely upon the midfield/defence doing nearly all the scoring.

So I don't disagree with those saying he shouldn't be starting, in fact I certainly agree. The odd successful flick on is just not enough, he should be used as another option in the league, CL he has done well though.

IMO he shouldn't start in the league, only the CL, I have also run out of patience with him, he has had a fair run of games without delivering the goods, I think it is fair to say nothing kneejerk about it.

But without him, Rafa wouldn't have got all them goals, Champions League might have gone a tad differently. This season was the 1st time in his career that he got 2 Assists in One game. He offers us something different, and we need to be able to bring him on to change things. So i think Crouch is alright, but if we could get a tall striker who can do what he does but better, then we should do it. For now, Crouch will do.

He cant finish, rarely wins a header of any substance, doesnt dominate in any way, isnt a physical presence enough, doesnt make enough intelligent runs when he isnt standing in the area.

He has his uses when defending but in my opinion a striker should be judged on goals and any assists should be expected

Crouch wasn't incredinly awful but you have to look back on the game and say he was just fucking useless.

I think Harry keeps him on because there's always a slight chance he might snatch something considering how tall he is but he's had too many minutes on the pitch with that in mind without him even really doing anything.

Granted. VDV was not at his best, but still 100 times more effective than Crouch.

I think our kit man had more of an influence on the game that what Crouch did.
