Just imagine what we could do if we had a stadium almost twice as big as our current one!

We'd be heads and shoulders above the lot of 'em!

The more we compete the more vulnerable we are to losing players to clubs paying bigger wages.

Foresight demands we progress with bigger stadium with all haste.

A new stadium means we can compete in the long term. More money for wages, transfers etc.

Put it another way, a new stadium would either multiply what we have or would act as a sort of safety net. If we were moving into the new stadium, say August 2013, it would be a fantastic timing. It could, or could have, meant riding the wave for a bit longer. Clearly it'd cost us money in the short term, and if we could consistently qualify for the CL we'd soften the blow and once we'd covered ourselves we'd be able to spend more the money on players rather than repayments on any loans.

My worry is we won't make it big enough and lose out by being too conservative. I'd imagine that it'd cost us a hell of a lot more to add 10,000 seats later than to do it during construction

Exactly- We need to compete consistently and without a sugar daddy bank rolling us like Man City we need to increase our revenue in other ways. Bigger stadium, more gate revenue, also more likely to hold other matches and events at the ground. We need to get into the Champions league every year, not in one year and out the next so we have a bigger global presence to increase merchandise sales and attract big money sponsors.

I don't want this season to go down as being a flash in the pan.

I think Harry meant consistently competing

I have been quite outspoken, at times, in insisting we could compete at the very top this season, during the Summer, and even after losing the first two games. BUT, I suspect that, unless something dramatic happens at Citeh, to name the most obvious, we would struggle to replicate this success next season even if we keep the squad together (which may be easier said than done). I would have no such worries if we had the stadium to support the wages to keep the squad together and add to it.

A lot of empty seats at the City game last night, football is not immune from the financial squeeze.

We want to compete in the transfer market and keep players (who sadly aren't Spurs fans) by offering competitive wages.

bigger stadium, bigger income, bigger wages, bigger better tottenham if we dont move we will get left behind, the demand for spurs is at an all time high that we havent seen for years at the minute.

Who would have thought spurs away at city sunday 1:30pm kick off sky televised game would go to 125 loyalty points! Normally goes to general sale!! The demand is there we need to move sooner rather than later!

Was listening to some of them phoning up last night on talksport, they were complaing that the ticket prices for the man u and l'pool games were £40 a pop which starts to get expensive for two games in a week.

We need a bigger Stadium thats clear, but if clubs think they can continue to charge top dollar for tickets they will be in for a big surprise. Long term its not sustainable as not enough young people can afford to go to games.
If Arsenal don't make champions league for a year or two just watch their glory hunters slide off into the sunset. They already discount carling cup games down to £10 as they know they would never sell out those games otherwise.
For me its about getting the balance right, our proposed "kop end" should be far more affordable than it is at present, to attract those fans that struggle financially to come to games today.

We talk about atmosphere at games but its not a patch on this.

Seeing whichever stadium plan we have is at least 4 years away, what do we do in the interim. If we qualify for CL next year, the entire squad will merit raises. How do we finance that?
a few weeks ago, I suggested that we might have to lease Wembley in the interim and I was shot down in flames. But nobody has yet put forward a workable alternative.

Bigger stadium doesn't mean success, just ask the scum, but long term it must make you financially stronger and if managed right,a better team in the future.

There should be a sticky thread on stadium progress

Would we really expect Bale, VDV and Modric to stay if they are being offered double their current wages?

Personally feel some pressure should be on the club to push this through.
