I would love berbatov to stay, but only if he wants to, if the rumours are true of him refusing to get changed etc....then why would we want a player like that?

The man's skill is sublime, I would love it, but I do not want the sulky, hissy fitting, that we have seen on some occasions. Why would we want some one that casts a negative air over the rest of the team?

This is what I don't understand, some people seem to be saying that without him that we are going to lose it all, but with some of the signings, and some of the potential signings I personally think that we can go somewhere next season and it can only be up!!

Yes but we can go further up with Berbatov in our team than without him.We can stiill do well but we can do better with him.And isn't that what we want to be the best?

You mean, tell them to get lost if they don't meet our asking price? Seems reasonable to me.

I thought we should hold onto Berbatov but he will make such a pain of himself that he has to go .

At the end of the day what have we got to lose by keeping Berbatov ?? We paid £11m cash for him, its not as though we owe anyone any money ?? Just keep paying his wages & tell Manu to stick there poultry offer where the sun dont shine. If Keane was worth £20m, then Berbs is at least a £30m++ player.

United know the deal, if you want a £30m footballer, youve got to meet the players valuation plus what extra the club will accept to let them prise him away. So its £35m unless Berbs submits a transfer request, & then that changes everything.

 LOL 35 million your joking surely. We are the only possible buyers for a player who is desperate to leave, everything adds up to us paying less not more. It looks like Tottenham are bringing in the replacements before Berbatov is sold, Arshavin Pavlyuchenko and Milito are arriving with Bent set to stay. So they will need to offload Berbatov as they will have too many strikers, they will also need to balance the books in terms of finances. Everything points towards Manchester United being in the strongest position for negotiations here.

Anyway, Barry will probably still end up getting his move and how will Villa look then?

Doubt it, Liverpool dont think Barry is worth close to Villa's valuation. O'neill wanted to give himself time to find a replacement - hence the deadline. Seems reasonable for us to do the same- would we really need a Pavlyuchenko if Berbatov stayed ?

after the war of words levy and fergie have had i dont think levy will back down unless the £ is right, i think there is no chance he will settle for less than the amount wanted a few weeks back and i think more.

I agree and if we decided to sell Berbatov for 5m less to say Barca then that would be ok too.

It is no longer a possibility for Berbatov to join Barcelona. They were looking at Berbatov as a possible replacement for Samuel Etoo who they expected to leave, but all the words coming from Barcelona suggest that Etoo is now staying there, so they are no longer in the market for a striker. Im sorry to dissapoint you my friend.

would give anything to see him stay, he is the best player i have see in person on a football pitch world class without a doubt, i think he made keane a better player than what he is and without him in the side we will mis a hell of lot but with him in it we could do anything

9M Gomes
7M GDS
15M Bentley
17M Arshavin possibly
15M Pav or Milito not both (Milito's agent says we aren't interested now, but anyway)

20M Keane
23Mish reported for the Sunderland Quad (Supposing Kaboul moves somewhere sooner or later)
3.5M Robbo

Thats an outlay of 17M ish. Judging from all sources, we had an awful lot more than that available at the start of the window. Even if you include Modric, thats still only 33M, which once again, is well sort of what we are reported to have available. The line that always seems to be trotted, is that money is available if the right player is available.

So saying we need to sell Berbs to balance books is ridiculous

I'd also remind you that it seems to be pretty agreed upon that Berbs has 2 more years of a contract left, plus our choice of a further 2, so essentially he has 4 years remaining. There isn't a chance Levy is going to deal with Man U and let Berbs go for anything less that a price he is happy with. Once again, your suggestion ManU are in the stronger negotiating position, is ridiculous

Hardly impossible but if you read what he said it was if we sold him to SAY Barca. In other words for example. It could also be to Real or any other major player.

United seem willing to pay as much, or almost as much, for Tevez. You think we value Berbatov any lower?

As we're the most efficiently run club in the EPL, I don't think we're in need of any advice on how to balance our books from an outfit owned by a bunch of Yankee carpetbaggers, ta very much.

i think its obvious we're not goin to sell berbatov for what would be perceived to be cheap .. you just need to look at what we got for keane.

"The group is fine as it is, we're only waiting to see how the situation with Eto'o will develop."
Laporta also stressed that there was no concrete interest from Serie A in Eto'o.
"Barca have not received any offer from any Italian club, although we have spoken with Inter and Milan," he added.
