Good Evening,

I’m writing today on sc because I’ll be flying to London with a good friend of me on the week-end
from Friday 11.11.16 until Sun 13.11.16 .

We will have a low budget hotel in London Edmonton near the North Circular Road.
(very close from the Angel Road stop area).

That’s why, I would need some information from those of you who know well the Tottenham area and London.

1 / Can you give me some tips/ some advise where to find a Café / Pub / Restaurant in the Tottenham area where we can have a full english breakfast for good value for money.

2 / Can you give me the name(s) of Good Pub(s) in the Tottenham area where this is a good atmosphere to drink a few pints that would be “haven” of spurs fans (even on non-match days).

Indeed, I would be very pleased to have a few beers in a “ Spurs” Pub and to have the opportunity to have a chat with local spurs fans.
It would be great for me to have a chat with some fans that post on sc.
It would add a “human” dimension to that “virtual community” for me.
My good friend is an Olympique Lyonnais fan but speaks and also understand english quite well.
He is also interested in Spurs thanks to / because of / me.

If this is not allowed to give names of Pubs / Restaurants , etc… on this website , just give me the number and name of the street of each of them or send me private messages.

3 / I know Tottenham isn’t known as one of the most popular tourist sites in London.
But I am a Tottenham fan first and then a tourist.
Please let me know if some sites in Tottenham worth a look.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Alex.

You're coming on a weekend when there's no prem football - you try being friendly in a pub in Tottenham you'll end up in hospital.

Enjoy your stay though.

Mate Tottenham is a bit of a dump and that's being polite, the football club is by far the greatest aspect of the entire place.
Where you're staying is awful as well.
If you like drugs/gang culture/halal food you could be in for the best weekend of your lives.
You would've been wiser to stay somewhere else and just travel to Tottenham for the day, it's truly dreadful.

I hope you get out alive mate, good luck... and Godspeed.

11th November is a non working day in France, that's why we'll fly to London during this week end.
As both my friend and I have not a huge budget, this is maybe better , there is no PL on that week end ;)

BomberH,
I didn't really understand the part " you try being friendly in a pub in Tottenham you'll end up in hospital".

May you please explain .

Thanks in advance.

Gb,

Staying at Tottenham for the week-end seems to be more dangerous than a CL mid week game away in Moscow for some Yids.
Thanks for the info nevertheless :(

I fully know that Tottenham isn't the safer area in London but I guess not all people are drugs dealers or bad people.

And that some "Spurs" fans actually live in Tottenham or do the majority of you live in other parts of London and just go to
Tottenham on matchdays.

I deliberately choose to stay around Tottenham...my way to support to Club and the economy of the area.

Tottenham is great for shopping:

And if nature's your thing, there's Broadwater Farm. Just ask the locals how to get there.

I'm exaggerating a bit, but it's not a nice area.
I'd say that the very vast majority of Spurs fans live outside the area and just go on match days...I live in Enfield, where the training ground is, it's about 6/7 miles from White Hart Lane.

I'm sure you'll be fine, but there's really not much to do around there, especially if there's no football that weekend.
Someone on here is bound to know some places there now worth visiting.
My guide consists of Rudolphs and The Coolbury Club....both of which are now shutdown :(

Don't be a martyr mate, stay somewhere else & enjoy your weekend. Go do a stadium tour if you can that'll be great - have a look around, have a bite in Chick King, get a drink in The Bricklayers or Bill Nicholson if they're open, then go enjoy London

You won't find many, if any, football fans around to talk to

Completely agree, but I think the Billy Nich is only open matchdays.
If you're in London for the weekend there's plenty to get up to.

Thanks Guys,

We'll also visit London too...That's ok .. :)
If u wanna see some Spurs players then England play Scotland on Friday 11th @ Wembley stadium...there will be some Spurs players in that match.
Not sure how difficult to get or how expensive tickets would be though.

Hi French Alex, bomberH at your service here.

Basically, as much as we all love the club, Tottenham as a whole is a bit of a shithole although that may change in the coming years with the ongoing development. The pubs there aren't necessarily the pubs where you meet and chat with other guys, unless you're going to a very specific change of lifestyle pub. If you want trendy/poncey go to somewhere like Shoreditch. If you want a no nonsense pint of bitter with not much chatting involved other than with your friends, go to Tottenham. There are a couple of clubs there though if you want to boogie on down with your homeboys. I can't remember what they're callled because I last went to one of them in 1992 but it was ok, despite continuous fears of an imminent knife attack.

You should definitely visit the club during the day though. Make sure you take lots of pictures and a bullet proof vest.

Tottenham isn't all bad! The Beehive near Bruce Grove station is a good pub even on non match days - great beer selection and excellent food. Might not be a lot of fans around that weekend but still worth a look. San Marco Italian restaurant is close by and is also superb.

If you head north up the high road a bit Edmonton has some great Turkish restaurants and heading south you'll find plenty of decent pubs around Stoke Newington.

I agree with the others, there isn't enough to do in Tottenham for a whole weekend but there's a few nice places and you can get into central London pretty quickly if you get bored

There really isn't much locally. You could take a walk over to http://www.haringey.gov.uk/bruce-castle-museum and take in some culture, followed by a stroll over to http://www.fusion-lifestyle.com/centres/Broadwater_Farm_Community_Centre .......ask for Carmen, she'll fix you up with some Jamaican woodbines for twenty pounds......Its pretty much next door to my mums house so if Carmen ain't there, knock on her door and she'll sort you out. Ask anyone around there for Maria the Blade, they'll point out her front door for you.

Oh and you could also stop for a pint in the Elmhurst if its still there and open, you'll see it as you leave the Museum..........but make sure you're tooled up. Ask for Sharon the Swallower, she bangs like a shithouse door, but don;t ask her for a tenners worth, she'll only headbutt you. Twenty five is her minimum if you haggle well.

Good luck and enjoy.

There's an Ikea near where you are :D

Umm in all seriousness there's the Lee Valley woods of Hurricane way on the road down from IKEA to Tottenham Hale. That's nice for a walk.

Don't know if it's still there but Titanic Cafe was great for a full English on the high road, there's a great cafe in the insustrial estate in Harbet road.

Think scorpios Jamaican food place is gone, but the Morrocan joint on the high street is really nice as long as you're not an intimidated kind of guy. They friendly but being a stranger in a place is not for everyone. Me I go anywhere that's good.

You should go Bill Nic pub, so you know for next time you reach for a match.

Don't be put off by Tottenham, it's not s bad place on the whole. Just don't walk around like a tourist. Maybe see if there's a stadium tour that weekend if there's no matches. I've Lived in Camberwell, Peckham Brixton so the place don't phase me, but be mindful. There's always the ground to walk around and the new bits to look at from behind the fence.
