Really mate, its not half as bad as people on here are saying, just like any urban area on the edge of a big city, much nicer than some parts of Paris...
Keep away from Edmonton... I'd head for the Bruce castle area, nice park and quite historic, go to the Antwerp arms, one of my favourite pubs in north London. The beehive at Bruce grove is pretty good too.
If you want a pleasant walk, Tottenham marshes in the Lee valley is good.
I'd be tempted to head south, towards seven sisters/ Finsbury park, where its a bit more lively (been to some good restaurants on the black stock road, or get the train to Stoke newington, which is pretty chic.
You'll have a good time, just be sensible and keep away from Edmonton, which is genuinely rough.

Mate Tottenham is a bit of a dump and that's being polite, the football club is by far the greatest aspect of the entire place.
Where you're staying is awful as well.
If you like drugs/gang culture/halal food you could be in for the best weekend of your lives.
You would've been wiser to stay somewhere else and just travel to Tottenham for the day, it's truly dreadful.

I hope you get out alive mate, good luck... and Godspeed.

Jesus Christ, its not that bad. I grew up not far from the ground, admittedly that was 50 years ago! But some of you chaps make it sound like Harlem at its worst. I've been back lots of times and its fine. Just use common sense...and carry a big stick. Seriously no... :D

Don't listen to these guys trying to jazz it up, they won't be there to help you when you get found barefoot in an alley.

Remember to make sure your shoe laces are done up very tight so that you can safely sprint away from any confrontations, and when making your escape remember to zig zag to make yourself harder to hit with a firearm.

seven sisters seems ok during the day. But never been when its not match day.

Where I live is a bit of a shit hole (i.e. to middle class people it has lots of afro carribean immigrants) but its fine once you get to know it. Never had trouble.

now it gets dark earlier I would definitely make sure whatever you do, be back in your hotel (trying/shocked to understand why 1 was built in Edmonton) by 3 o'clock for guaranteed safety, and don't show off too much bling

oh and when i say 3 o'clock i'm talking about afternoon:ROFLMAO:

the only trouble with going into central London is it will be full of men in skirts, especially on the Friday night, and don't approach them as they could be very drunk, and hopefully very upset, plus you won't understand a fucking word that they speak:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

White people arnt allowed around Tottenham unless its a match day. We actually have a special pass for those specific days. Have a look on EDL.com and they should hook you up with a fake. If you head into East London, make sure your not wearing a crucifix. You will be abducted and will wake up in Syria. Make sure you spit on the pavement at all times.

Good luck and gods speed!

There's a secret walk too. We used to call it the 'Broadwater bounce', its a hard habit to get out of.......I haven't done it for years, until last week when I went to see my old girl, it came back to me out of nowhere........Somehow i'd regressed to the early 80's.....I got out the car and skanked my way to my mums front door, Mrs A&C looked at me in amazement, so I kissed my teeth in her face. That told her. My mum also gave me a funny look when I told her to get some riddem going and put on some Eek a Mouse..........So I kissed my teeth in her face. So she cut me.

About a brisk 10 min walk, providing you don't get into any shootouts

Wiki says that its pretty safe these days. Even disbanded the local plod. I guess your mum heads up some sort of Mafioso that keep the area clean. Good on her!

Bring back the krays!! Lovely boys who loved their mum!!

You would be better off staying around Shoreditch and then travelling to Tottenham from there if you wanted to visit the stadium. Also would give you easier access to the rest of London.

Having said that it's really not as bad as people are making out, it's just very multicultural and there's not much to do. As long as you stick around the high road you will be fine. The 279 bus is your friend.
