Who remembers when Sunderland beat our reserves in pre-season and their fans were going crazy thinking it was a sign of good they were going to be this season :D

Well the Pool result isn't surprising. Every team will likely drop pts at home to teams they should be looking to beat, including us so no disgrace in that. Never mind the talk of an outside title bid though. As I've said previously their midfield is nowhere near strong enough or deep enough and they will fall quite well short of 4th place, imo. I actually think they might be double figures behind the 5th place team again as they were last season.

Frankly, baby steps. Forget about their drop from the top 4. They have only finished in the top 6 (in 6th position) once since then. How about trying to do that again before getting caught up in other distractions. Every team that finished above them last season has only widened the gap in terms of quality and depth this summer.

They're helped massively by not having any European games to stretch their already thin squad out any further and it's really the only reason they'll be relevant this season. I still think they'll fall short though.

Well done Hull also. Huge result for them, especially away from home.

Chavs will play for the draw against us. Maureen would be delighted with a 0-0.

All we need to do tomorrow is to win by 1 goal more than the Arse to guarantee top spot.

Just seen both Baines freekicks.

Definitely worth watching MOTD for. Both of the highest quality.

If RVP had volleyed that in people would be saying it's an early contender for goal of the season.

Brilliant goal.

Exactly.

Di Canio thrashed them fitness wise and that is it, bar a few eccentric gimmicks. It was all for show after a shite season.

AVB knows he has 60 proper games to manage and they count once the season starts, not before.

Just watching motd, which I know is highlighted, but we have absolutely nothing to fear against the Russian's when we play them.

To be honest that part of the Mourinho interview is absolute gold. Good on him bringing Redknapp down a peg or two.

After watching a good bit of youtube of Gary Nevilles tactical analysis of matches throughout today before watching MOTD. It has just emphasised to me again how pathetic their analysis is. They might as well cut out most of the talking and just show the highlights because they neither have a banter about football setup nor expertly explain the mistakes of sides.
