I'm absolutely sick to death of all of these ridiculous posts/topics questioning Levy in the last week in regards to not paying big wages and why we're not linked to superstars.

I reckon he might know what he's doing considering we're in the Champions League, have state-of-art training facilities on the way, a new stadium in the works and a very very good squad!!!

Further to this the Club operates at a profit (or a very small loss), every other "top" side in the Premier League either operate at a huge loss because they have a filthy rich owner, or are in massive debt. There are plenty examples of what happens when you throw money at players and it not working.

The latest knee-jerk reaction has been caused by Joe Cole choosing Liverpool over us for a reported £90,000 a week! How dare Levy not break our wage structure for someone who hasn't even managed 40 league games in two seasons, especially when we only have no midfielders

We should be extremely proud of how our chairman runs our great club, be delighted with the position he's got us in, trust him and support him!

People are just getting a bit antsy because we haven't signed anybody yet (except of course we have signed Sandro...but that was a while ago so obviously doesn't count).

The fact that most clubs who aren't Man City haven't signed anyone, and the fact that we've tied the majority of our top performers to new contracts and the fact that we're probably the most financially secure side in the league don't come into it when people have normally signed a new first XI by this time in the season on Football Manager.

Something will have to give at some stage. With all the debts about at the moment, continual rises in wages etc etc. I can't think of a better chairman to keep the club in a good financial state heading into the future. In the long run, we're in as good a position as anyone. Thanks largely to Daniel Levy.

EXACTLY

Levy has done the right thing with Joe Cole, and I'm sure he will keep on making the correct decisions for years to come

I agree with most of the things that you say.....but (and always a but), THFC are STILL a club with too many English players (more the English style)....even after the disaster of the S.Africa WC. It is easy to comment/react AFTER the WC showed English football up for what it is, 2nd class! We are still as far as ever from the CL security (remember that we were sooo close under Jol.....so it should be year 3/4 of the THFC CL journey). We are now, however, facing a new year/season with the best squad in years.....but, so far we are pretty much the same quality as last year? Sandro etc should make a difference.....so let's play that they will! Levi is yet to prove that he can retain our CL Qualification.....but....first things first! COYS!

Couldn't agree more with all of that (duly repped) - and I sincerely hope that Harry understands as well. The well-being and financial stability of the club - as we move steadily in the right direction - is vastly more important than certain players looking forward to pay-day.

There will always be clubs in the Premiership which, through desperation or ultra-rich owners, outbid us for particular players, but I am convinced that Spurs under Levy will continue to move prudently and sensibly forward. I actually gain a certain sense of pride in knowing that we are not considered to be spendthrift knobs in the transfer market.

Agree 100% with the the OP.

Levy is the most underrated member of our team. Without him we'd have probably ended up in the bad old days like with Scholar when Sugar sold up.

I have to disagree, how can you say we have the same quality as last year? Quality in a young team like ours Lennon, Bale, Modric, Hudd ect are constantly improving, look at Bale over the course of last season. Modric and lennon having 2 injuires will come back stronger. Dawson's development last season.

Also Harry has only had last season as a real full season, he knows his players and they will know better now what is expected and how he wants them to play. Just my opinion but I think we have the ability in the sqaud to match and possibly better last season's league form. I can't comment on the CL as we dont know as a team how we will travel etc.

This.
And it is this that is so difficult to calculate and so many are overlooking.

So your answer to Englands problems is to have less faith in the English players?

Surely if anything has been learnt from the Euro 08 failing and now the World Cup, it's that teams in England need to do more to develop English talent. We're one of few teams actually doing this, and doing well from it.

We shouldn't give up on English talent, we should continue to have faith in them. Unlike a number of other Premier League teams.

i'm with levy all the way on this one

for weeks I've been saying this deal threatens to derail our wage structure- plus I think Harry is a bit OTT re Cole

it was also rumoured that harry wanted james to sgn and that Levy, rightly again, given that Gomes is superior) put a veto on that too

Harry's a triffic manage for sure - but he does need his spending tendencies curbed at times

well done Levy indeed

Long live DL. Would be interesting to see how much we would have paid for a player we really needed had they been available on a free. Joe Cole is a luxury we could do without, but if the right player becomes available, DL may just have to stretch a tad further to nail him.

Our offer seemed to have been about 20% less than he was on at Chelsea, so you'd have to reason that Levy wasn't overly impressed with the idea of signing Cole. Levy didn't spare anything when clinching Modric for a record fee, so he's not averse to investing big money in the right player.

small issue with this.

Huddlestone - not a typical english player. King and Dawson - barely played in the WC. JD was the highest on capello's ratings  Lennon's game was stifled in the WC, the croatians obviously have a massive influence in our game not to mention the other foreigners.
