Of all the players that have been moaned at recently, I'm pleased Harry has been wise to the out of form.

Corluka, shocking lately, dropped.

Lennon, 2 years ago it would have been unthinkable to drop Lennon, rightly dropped. Bang out of form.

Palacios. Looks half the player that joined us. Sloppy mistakes, lacklustre showings = dropped

Unfortunately for Harry, as we have seen again today, it doesn't matter who we play up front, they are all totally inconsistent. Crouch and pav barely had a touch all game. Keane...........embarrassing. I liked his touch where it was pinged to him on the ground, under no pressure and it bounced up over his own head.....but then I've seen it before many times..

A lot of managers we've had were scared to drop so called stars, Harry has made a lot of brave decisions lately, and whilst we were pretty average again today, for this alone, he deserved a bit of luck.

too true. Its always good to give your so called "big" players a kick up the arse now and then. Lennon did look really good the 10 mins or so he had though.

I agree with you, it's nice to know that none of our players are guaranteed their starting places.

Likewise it was nice to see JJ, Keane and Hutton given their chances today, as they've not had many recently.

Harry's certainly got more balls than Sir Alex at the moment - just how many times does Wayne Rooney have to not score before he's dropped to the bench? OK so they dropped him for the Everton game, but that was not for his form.

Although ironically, it was for scoring!

:) Quality!

Good thread too, If our squad players know that they have a way back into the starting 11 then it can only make us stronger. It will be interesting to see what a confident Hutton is like at defending, good luck too him and Jenas too for that matter.

Harry has to rotate his players or he will have more "Keane" cases - the man had not started a game for us since January. All he needs is few more games to get back to where he was. His movement, work rate, invention are no match of for the rest of the strikers and even when that he had a day off he was still better than Crouch, as most of the shots came from him while Crouch was nowhere to be seen. With him as a striker we look more versatile and less embarrassing, although we still play with a lot of crosses.

I haven't seen any of that for about 18 months.

Crouch out played keane today by miles....and crouch didn't have a great game.

I'm sorry but i don't actually think your post could be further from the truth. Robbie Keane was nothing short of dreadful today. Hes touch was heavy, his passing sloppy, his shooting wayward and looks as though his ingenuity has all but gone. With Robbie Keane we don't look more versatile, we look staggered. This maybe on the harsh side but i feel he at times causes more problems than solves them. He seems to pop up in the deep role which we really don't need in the system that we play. We need a striker that can play off the shoulder and whom can also link the play. Keane used to do the latter, but I'm afraid he's just lost it.

At first I read it as in "Balls to anyone saying well done Harry" but I get the impression it's "Well done Harry for having the balls for dropping players"

I thought it was an excellent post right up until you said Crouch didn't get a touch. He didn't stop touching the ball in the first half. At one point for about 30 minutes in the first half it was out only method of attack - long, high ball for Crouch to knock down to Keane.
