Since the early promise shown, when we first signed him, his been nothing more than a liabilty imo, fair play to the lad though, a time in the wilderness after a period on loan, seems to of done him the world of good, totally changed a desperate performance, into a game winning one  not very often a defender has such an impact in offence coming off the bench, as He did today so well done Alan, keep your head down and make it hard for Harry to leave you out the squad

Up until Kaboul's injury I thought he'd made the RB post his own then Hutton comes on and does this. Well played Ali.

Think he played really well today. Shame neither Kaboul or Hutton were left footed as it'd solve the LB problem and BAE would be out!

He had more space going forward without bumping in to Lennon. Those two can't work together. Great day for him though. There could still be a future for him at least this season.

Well done to Hutton today.

As for the future - *reserves judgement*

I think it's a bit harsh to make a judgement that his future will only be with the reserves.

I was a big fan of Hutton after his first few games (plus I lived with a mad Glaswegian Rangers fan when we signed him, who was gutted that they had sold him, and convinced Hutton would be a huge success).

However, I agree with PT...him and Lennon don't seem to be a good combination. He seemed to work well with Bentley in the handful of games they played together last season, so I'd love to see those two get a chance against Arsenal.

Hutton?? I thought that was Cafu!

He aint alled the white Cafu for nothing

Hutton's game changed when Lennon came on. Not sure if it was because we were winning and he was sitting back more or that Lennon was there.

Great to see Hutton put in a performance today. Great option when teams just want to sit back.

Which is why I would think Corluka is preferred ahead of him when Lennon is in the starting line up. Hutton is a very good player. I have always liked him. Corluka on the other hand, not so much and mostly because of the lack of speed. He needs to work on that a lot.

He's certainly earned the right to be considered for a starting spot again with that performance. Whether he'll actually get it though is another thing. Kaboul has been fantastic all season, in my opinion. And whilst Corluka hasn't started the season too well, he'll pick up form again eventually, and he's a better defender than Hutton when he's on form.

But between the three of them and Naughton/Walker, that is one position we shouldn't need to struggle with.

hutton had a quality game and showed the kind of form he did when we first signed him.
im pretty sure that ill never say this again but hutton turned the game for us and without his driving runs down the right hand side we would of lost today

I'm sure that we've said before that he palys well with Bentley because he gets forward more as Bentley allows him to overlap unlike with Corluka who never overlaps at all, it'd be interesting to see if we get the best out of him behind Lennon all game but it was good to see the player we bought from Rangers.

 There is no left-back problem.

He works better with Bentley.

I remember pointing out last eason that i had just seen a re-run of hsi debut against United on ESPN, and he looked pretty damned good. And don't forget his was then injured, and virtually the first tthing Aitch did when he could sign players was to buy two right-backs, which mustn't have exactly filled Hutton with confidence.
Lennon/Corluka or Bentley/Hutton - though I think Walker is an exciting prospect, this would give him time to develop.

lennon needs to learn to draw players, when hes got two on him, hutton gets a free ride in or it creates more space further in field, either way they do work together, they need to learn how, i'm tired of this game being overcomplicated...

Saved our sorry asses almost single handed . The goal he scored was a lost cause . Only a mad Scotsman with a LOT to prove would have chased that one down

I don't actually understand the criticism that Hutton got here.. I thought he has always played well for us and was very promising. Guess I was the only one lol.

THIS drives me up the wall!!!!!

Why can't they work together!?

Does Messi tell Alves not to run forward because he might bump into him! :bang:

Mate WAKE UP!!! It's Corluka's lack of forward movement to draw players away from Lennon thats killing him. Defenders double up on him knowing Lurch can't push forward and even if he does he can't produce a cross!

Hutton still needs to work on his defensive positioning but how can you say he can't work with Lennon?

I thought Hutton and Lennon linked up reasonably late on in the game. Together they changed the game (along with Pav, who needed 3 touches, one a debatable handball, to get a goal, fair play!)

I can see both sides of the Hutton argument, and make no apologies for the fact I wouldn't have minded Hutton sold in the summer (we're well stocked in the right back department, let's be honest) but he's still a Spurs player and deserves our support when he pulls on the lilywhite.

I'm delighted he's put himself back in the picture for first team duties. He now needs to cement that place with consistent performances, both defensively and offensively.

I hope he can do it.

I find it funny that you constantly blame corluka for everything, yet your hero Arda said Charile was the best right back he ever played against... Thoughts?
