Ah the hell with it:

Two things about that absurdity.

1) Half of the support appeared to believe that Glory Glory Tottenham Hotspur is the Champions League anthem, so were waving their glowing speechtools around for a forlorn ten minutes.

2). If the opposition cheerfully join in with your ritual display, your attempt to invoke partisan spirits will fail. And these were Krauts, for goodness sake. Of course they were going to participate in anything stadium-rockist.

The only way the Germans would've enjoyed it more was if the Hoff suddenly appeared, rocking out in the centre circle.

It's so weird that we don't have a CL thread and instead have loads of different threads on different bits of it.

In lieu of that: shouldn't we just try our best to finish bottom of the group now rather than put effort in and finish third?

Surely we don't want to end up in the fucking EL again do we?

Are you absolutely sure about that? Where did you hear that?
Any Season Ticket holder that purchases a Group Stage Multi-Game Ticket will have first priority to purchase that seat for subsequent matches in this season’s UEFA competitions

we are discussing options that include the possibility of playing our European games away from White Hart Lane next season.

I don't know for sure but the wording seems quite deliberate.

If we don't beat Monaco, then we should probably play the kids against CSKA.

Dropping into the EL is the nightmare scenario.

Personally I'd be putting everything into trying to win the FA Cup this season, along with doing whatever we can manage in the league as well, obviously - especially since we've already mugged the EFL Cup off. It'd be the only thing that could make up in some way for the bitterness of our CL failure.

Odd to have these bitter Spurs feelings so early in the season. November is usually the beginning of the false hope period, the bitterness doesn't usually turn up until May...

Poch has been remarking that he hasn't had enough time to fully assimilate the squad as the international breaks and short turnarounds between games have interrupted his preparations. If he truly feels that way, he should look to play the kids in the Europa League ( If we do not qualify for the knockout stages) and deal with it as such and focus his efforts on the League and FA Cup.

Now I know, there will be some posters who would question such an approach stating that " we need to create a wining mentality thus play the best team/ winning the EL is our best chance at qualifying for CL" I see where they are coming from but wining in the EL does not transfer to wining in the League. It was a crazy stat that whenever we played in the EL we would struggle to win in the following League game. If we look at Liverpool without European commitments they are finding form and scoring at will, having a full week for prep time can do that. Now this probably sounds contradictory seeing as the whole point is qualify for CL so we can push ourselves in the competition (seeing as the EL offers us a really good chance to do that) but I feel we need Poch to actually sit down with the players and really figure out his best team ( where each player really fits in e.g Sissoko) and figure out how to counter act teams like West Brom etc who we will face more often than not.

Ive always been one of the guys that detests the Europa league so this may be surprising to say but if we were to drop into the Europa then id go full pelt at that and the FA cup and sacrifice the league. For what its worth I think we'll struggle to make top 4 this year and whilst the league should always be bread and butter I REALLY want to win something as its been far too long since we did.

Liverpool made the Europa final last season so I see no reason why we couldn't match that and hopefully go one better.

Ps. I still believe that we'll beat Monaco and CSKA meaning that we'll qualify from the group anyway :)

I was asked by a colleague if we had blown our CL chances now, which lead me into looking at various scenarios.

Basically we need to win both of our remaining fixtures and we will finish at least 2nd in the group.

If we go to Monaco and get the win, that makes the Wembley match against CSKA a must win match (without relying on Leverkusen results). Surely the players and fans will be up for it? I really hope this is the situation and provides a bit of a climax to these group stages. If we draw at Monaco then we need leverkusen to lose both their games. A loss at Monaco and the CSKA match will be us going through the motions on our way to the Europa League...the atmosphere will be lackluster to say the least.

The bottom line is, win both of our games and we are through, simple as that. We have more than enough talent to beat Monaco at their ground, its not exactly a lions den either is it lets be honest, if the players cant get up for these last two games then we have serious problems.

Lost our last six games at Wembley. Personally I'm sick of the sight of the place!

Not looking forward to playing there next season.

Not had a problem getting away from Wembley. Just avoid Wembley way and go round the side like me ;)

In the grand scheme of things I didn't think it was too bad. moved steadily and we got back to Waterloo for 22:25 to get the train back south.

I'm actually very glad we are. It's as good as inevitable that we break that curse playing 20-30 matches there and that will put us in a better mental state for any cup finals/semis we get to in future seasons.
