Comparing Arsenal and Manchester United's demand for tickets to ours is again not a valid argument. Arsenal have 40,000 waiting on their season ticket list and a 60,000 seater stadium. I assume Manchester United's have slightly less on their waiting lists, but I could be wrong?. If we categorized games like we do now then I'm sure that we would be able to fill the ground every week.

In the 80's a lot of people who could afford to take their wife or girlfriend or young children wouldn't because of hooliganism, poor stadia, poor facilities, standing etc. You are again coming out with cobblers for the sake of not agreeing with me. The whole of the 80's was not a recession - but the whole of the 80's had severe hooligan problems - these are facts.

Also, games were a lot cheaper in the 80's; my season ticket in the West Upper was less than £400 - although I would have to double check with my Dad as he paid for it. ;-)

I think I said hooliganism was a factor. Did I not? Oh, yes, I did. You must have missed that bit. 3m unemployed for much of the decade was a bit of a factor too. And whilst tickets were far cheaper (something else I mentioned) I had several friends who stopped going to games because it was an expense too much.

No, comparing the demand for tickets at Old Trafford and Arsenal with ours isn't a valid point. But then, I didn't make it. I was pointing out that ticket prices at Old Trafford and the Death Star have increased (the latter in comparison to what they were at the Library). Any notion that ours will go down after the building of a new stadium is pure fantasy. Also, the club seems unable to remember exactly what our waiting list is. If it's 12,000-odd, as Stoof was told, then simple arithmetic informs you that we're looking at around 50,000. If it is nearly 20,000, as the club told the Supporters' Trust a while back, then 60,000 is of course viable. But since we don't know the facts, we're just idly speculating. As usual.

We can also only speculate as to the reasons behind the deferral of any announcement on the stadium. But it seems not unreasonable to suppose that the possibility of a recession has something to do with it.

I'd just like to add that jimbo also emailed the ticket office, and they gave him the response of 12,000. I'd suggest that was the number.

As also jimbo said in this thread, people used to be on the list in duplicate due to applying for different stands, that isn't the case any more.

Just for clearing up's sake, you understand. :)

But with those lower demand midweek games it's all about yield management (getting prices right to max revenue). When we open the stadium I'd hope Levy would go the extra £50K a year to hire a good yield manager (as I'm a fan I'd do it)

The club has already proven quite poor at this. They vastly overestimated the demand for some of the UEFA Cup group stage games this season and were undersold by about 5000 - 10000 tickets.
