I think...scarily...a lot of out "fans" anticipate or in a sick way WANT a loss to vindicate all the vitriol they spewed last week.

Admittedly the NLD wasn't such a tense occasion all those years ago when were pretty average and shit.

The expectation now definitely adds an air of tension around the game and it isn't as fun but I still enjoy it (I think)

You said and I quote "these threads need to be far more prevalent". Is that not negative? I don't boo the team and don't call any of our players a gnu. I go most weeks and yes you get moaning idiots but it has always been like that. Sorry if I have tarred you with the wrong brush but my glass is mostly half full and your post seemed negative to me. I'm H A P P Y!!!! I'm H A P P Y and T T I D!!! (y)
Oh right. A misunderstanding then. My fault entirely. Before the Chelsea game someone started a thread about our non-losing streak. We were predictably stuffed at home due to this angering of mocker gods. So that's what I was alluding to and not a genuine desire to see moaning twats moaning in specific threads. Why bother, there are plenty enough already.

*chest bump of solidarity*

We cool, dawg?

It is interesting though. As Hybrid suggests, raised expectations have a weird effect on crowds. Back in my ST days of '99-'02, there wasn't such naked bile and our team totally blew back then. It would be the usual faces expecting Vega to suddenly not suck. It seems to have become pockets of discontent and not the usual seat here and there filled with a cabbie going through a divorce.

Maybe AVB and the lads should conspire to really suck, take the pressure off or something.

well we went there last season in 3rd, 10 points clear and in supreme confident mood.

Our chests all puffed out, laughing at their shit one man team, mind the gap threads and hand made signs to the ready. Full strength spurs side, playing great football having just murdered newcastle, our then manager thought to go 4-4-2 again since we murdered the barcodes with saha and Adebayor

we were then completly raped and well and truly for 90 minutes picking up 2 lucky fluke goals on the way to a 5-2 smashing

the point is, you never can tell with these games good form or not

Has the crowd changed that much? The bile you speak of has always been there. God knows how many barneys I have had telling people to shut up over my fair few years of going. I really don't see the difference.

Last season has certainly knocked the stuffing out of me with regards to The NLD. The fact we blew a lead there and then a ten point lead fills me with fear. I will get behind the team though. And miracles happen coys!!

You feel this way because you're here, and here has been a festering pool of knee-jerking and blood boiling stupidity because we lost to two teams with the combined financial clout of a medium sized European country. They think that three months into a complete rethink is long enough time to wait before throwing toys out of the pram, which is a lot easier if you start extrapolating things about a chairman to suit your outlook.

I'm not exactly looking forward to Sat either, it's Stockholm syndrome.

Weirdly, i can only think of one set of supporters who are whinging and being negative as much as we are right now, and we're playing them on Saturday, could be the fan equivalent of depressed fire vs pathetic ice.

You're not looking forward to Saturday's game because you've fallen in love with the people holding you hostage ?

Do you know what? For some strange warped reason, I actually think that we will put in a decent performance of Saturday.

A NLD win at the library could be just what the players and most importantly AVB need at the moment to get a proportion of the fans back on side.

This will be the game when I realise how much I miss VDV. I used to love his passion in these games it was like he was a life long Spurs fan! If Ade's fired up and Bale plays a blinder and our defence concentrate for 90mins I believe we can win it.

Have you ever been in Houdini's basement? No you haven't, well I have, which shows that you'll never love him like I do, stay away from him whore!

Hang on, what were we talking about? Oh this site, if you hang around long enough you start thinking like the lunatics, that's like Stockholm syndrome isn't it? It sounded better than 'negativity infection of the brain'.

Yes i think they have, i have been going for donkeys years and the ( home) crowd now are a lot worse. They have always been those that bitch and moan but it seems that now it starts after 5 minutes into the game.

Do you still sit with the same group of people? I have never had a season ticket so tend to float around the Park Lane and Shelf. You have your pockets of moaners then you have a great set of fans. I can't see that much has changed

This is where I'm annoyed at being a spurs fan. We are all on this site because we love Spurs, we are more then a football club, more then Arsenal vs Spurs, more then Harry haters and AVB hopefuls. Its times like this we need to go to war, excuse me if I'm over reacting but come on guys we need to roar into this match with balls of steel, blood pumping, adrenaline flowing Y!D army spirit. I personally can't wait, a big game pressures on our boys, but rather then hiding behind the sofa lets get fired up and expect a result, force it with our support. I relish these matches a chance for our boys to show to the world once again what we can do. It's with this fearful mentality that I reckon our players collapse so regularly, we need to fight guys, if you we're to get into a scrap would you think oh no I'm going to get my ass kicked? You would fight with all your heart and soul, us fans are the foundations and future of the club, and if our mentality is so pessimistic we aren't going to get anywhere.

I probably make no sense but I don't care, come on you spurs, and the gooners can have 15 players on the pitch I reckon we'll do them again!

Lets be honest if we had a manager whose tatics and style of play we could have confidence in let alone play the right keeper week in week out, then we might all be a bit more enthusiastic about the game on saturday never mind the rest of the season.

Yeah exactly, fucking idiots haven't can't even beat a team we won't play for another 2 days, i mean, what kind of chumps are we? Arsenal are crap at the moment and we haven't even had a shot yet! Dempsey hasn't even touched the ball once! It's like we haven't even turned up to the ground.

It's half time already?
