I have no problem calling Keane a Spurs legend he saved us from the abyss in the early noughties.
I hope Celtic can find £1.5 mil to buy him seriously I can't see him being valued any higher any talk of £5 or £6 mill is way off. If the spammers stay up I bet they'll try to weasel out of paying that much.

Not going to bother reading the thread as Keane threads only ever go one way so I'm just going to make my usual contributions (and this is with the fact that I was never his biggest fan anyway).

Robbie Keane has played 238 Premier League matches for THFC.
Robbie Keane has scored 91 Premier League goals for THFC.
Robbie Keane has played 303 matches in total for THFC.
Robbie Keane has scored 122 goals in total for THFC.
Robbie Keane's most prolific THFC season was 2005/06 where he scored 16 goals in 36 Premier League matches. We had yet to sign Berbatov.

No, we really couldn't have done with a striker this season who scores a goal every 2.5 league matches for us when actually given a run in the first team. Those 15 league goals would have done us no good whatsoever this season.

I apologise if this thread and this post are not relevant to one another, but I fucking love Robbie Keane and I don't understand Spurs fans who don't. I think he'd have had a good role to play this season, he's at least been a great player at one stage and may well have recaptured something if just given a chance by the manager.

I agree that Robbie Keane is a Spurs legend and deserves to be, he has served the club really well. I'm just think it was a mistake to bring him back.

One of Harry's biggest mistakes was bringing him back.

Oh you mean bringing back a leader in the dressing room when we were down the bottom of the table and making him captain? We wenr a great run towards the end of that season didn't we? Nearly got into Europe I seem to remember.

And mo I'm not saying it was all down to Keane, but he was a part of it.

THIS

He's useless now. There should be no room for sentiments.

But that's not what you said, you said it was a mistake to bring him back...it wasn't.
If you said it was a msitake not to get rid after DublinGate, for instance, I might agree with you - but I don't agree that it was a mistake to bring him back.

Means absolutely nothing. I'm pretty sure we had a better ppg average and goals conceded ratio with Bassong in defence last season than we do with Gallas in defence this season. Doesn't make Bassong a better player.

Never said it would.

If you look at Bassong when he started in 08/09 the team averaged 4% less ppg than they actually achieved. Gallas for the current season is on the exact same mark, 4% less than actual.

When Bassong has started this year we have averaged a whopping 22% less than actual ppg.

I'm not trying to put a case forward for which players are better than others. Just presenting the hard facts to show if we perform better or worse depending on which players are in the starting line-up.

Celtic will never take him back, even if he was offered on a free. They could never offer anywhere near his £65k odd a week he's on. I think we were paying Celtic close to his full wages when he was in Glasgow. Celtics top earner is on around 25-30k a week.

He was shit up here first time round anyway, the fans don't want him back. Yes, he scored some goals but a lot were tap ins and penalties. The game was far too physical for him, he looked lost. I remember my pal saying he thought Keane was one of the slowest strikers he had seen play for Celtic, and I agree with him.

agreed with BringBack_leGin
and it wasn't mistake since Bent, Pav & Campbell were our strikers, Defoe suffered an injury after just one game from re-signing him, and Redknapp wanted Bellamy at first place, fans didn't agree but the man was Man City player of last season, he get Keane on cheap and i would say he did decent job to keep us, specially if someone can remember how much it was key game vs Middlesbrough (H), we beat them 4-0 and Keane was MOTM, this could give us a believe we could leave the relegation battle so quick and we did, by beating 4th placed Aston Villa (A) and Chelsea (H).

as for him now, i could admit last season he is our 4th striker and not good enough, but since the first half of this season, i wished him to stay instead of all other strikers, at least he is playing with his heart, and even on the bench .. he is leader !

Aye, worst case scenario West Ham go down (Potential 6 points next season) and we get RK back.....oh, bollocks!

and you get 4 points from 24 points, from West Ham, West Brom, Blackpool & Wigan.

Robbie Keane has been shit for 3 years. That is the simple truth,

He contributed nothing on the field to keep us up on return but a lack of goals, an excruciating amount of first touches that took the ball over head height (He wouldn't get in my powerleague team), and partook in more pointing than a Heathrow Runway controller.

Robbie Keane has cost us over 20 million on his return. WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY.

Don't be so hard on Keane. After all it was his miss late on yesterday that will almost certainly consign West Ham to the Championship.

Sure, I'll be disappointed to see Keane come back as he is certainly well past his sell-by date but it might mean we get to sign Parker and Green on the cheap.

Keane has been a wonderful servant to Spurs over the seasons but there is no longer any place for him at the club. Let's hope that Levy can find him a club and get him off our wage bill. Unfortunately, I cannot see any mugs like the Spammers.

I hope the the Olympic commission are happy with their decision giving that legacy to a championship team. Cant see them anywhere near filling that now

Now he is useless but theres no doubt the poster is right to say we needed Keane when he was signed - no doubt about it when defoe got injured things were looking bleak.

But sure now we need to offload Keane, Defoe and Pav. I think there is still room for Crouch on the bench though.

You're not the only one. Who knows, he could have scored more than those two piles of crap Defoe and Crouch this season, at least Pav has scored more than a couple of goals.

Have you seen his miss today? 3 yards out, lifted his head and completely missed the ball. My 2 year-old grand-daughter could have scored. The guy has lost it - get over it.

Ye cos he's been playing so much football in the last season and a half.

I saw the miss, it wasn't good, but with more game time he would have put it away.

God, people have such short memories. 3/4 seasons ago Keane was the Messiah. It's the same when it comes to discussions about Redknapp, arguably our best manager in decades, these days.

I think the rumours that he got a bad ankle injury at Liverpool are probably true. He literally became half the player overnight.
