One question......would it have always been Defoe who took the pen OR if it weren't at Upton park would he have taken it?

Last few seasons Keane and Defoe have been our Penalty takers. I dont think Berbatov has taken a pen for us, has he?

Defoe would have wanted it cos it's West Ham... He scored one last season, so you couldn't really deny him it... How many pens has Berbatov actually taken for us though?

but in that situatio lst minute and all that you'd put your more experianced man to take it

defoe apart from winning it did fuck all to warrent to take the penalty

For all those of us who think Ramos will try to introduce a similar tactical system to his Sevilla team, it was a bit of a shocker to see us switch to 3-5-2, with Zokora as spare CB, Lennon and Bale as Wing Backs, Malbranque and Jenas as the CMs with Berba in the hole.

Ramos could have put Lee on for Kaboul and switched Chimbo to CB. Was he so convinced that Kaboul wasn't up to it that he had to change our entire system to try to deal with Carlton "Can't Control" Cole? Or was this system a vision of the future?

My money is on it being an aberration until he gets players in who can play his Sevilla system.

Oh, and Riley's performance was one of the five worst I've ever seen from a top-flight referee. He should be banished to park football.

Yeah, I'm pretty encouraged by the result and a draw is fair from the proceedings of the match. What I'm most happy about is that we are no longer sitting back in away games and playing defensively. We score and Ramos throws in attacking players to try to win the game. That is how it should be.

Kaboul is really lacking in confidence and I think we need King back asap. Malbranque was excellent as he has been throughout this season but once again our midfield fail to stamp authority in the game. JJ and Zok just aren't players who can control a midfield for us and you can see the difference between Wigan last week and West Ham this week.
All in all, I've seen progress and think we will be heading up the table as Ramos stamps his influence in the team.

Good call mate rep coming your way. Ultimately the result was a disappointment but the team performance was extremely encouraging

Agree.

All but Kaboul looks great.

Seriously, very impressed by Jenas today, was very positive, made some superb tackles, positive passing, he was looking forward so much more than he usually does (did under Jol) I think he made 1 misplaced pass all game.

Praise to Robbo as well, with the stick he surely got at UP, was a very good performance and made some top saves.

More importantly, what the fuck is going on with Carlton Cole's cheekbones? Anyone see his post match interview? They're blatantly trying to get away from his face.

I think that is when Zokora is at his best. Bolton at home when Keane went off, Arsenal in the League Cup Semi final for the last 10 minutes, and today are all exmaples of him dropping back and often acting as last man and his pace is a real asset. He was such a waste in midfield today as he played so deep it was like having a 5th defender rather than a midfielder for most of the time, but when we madt the changes and he did play as a defender I thought he played very well. I wouldn't mind seeing him play there for the full 90 on thursday to see what he's like as a CB when the game isn't stretched. I saw him play there in the CL on Real Madrid TV and he had a good game.

Overall a very bad performance today. We did not actually deserve the 3 points today. We have to do better than this, and that penalty miss made our day misrable.

We have to improve if we want to be a top team. This is not good enough.

Kaboul did an awful miss today, but overall the team did not play well either. Kaboul had one of his worst games.

We have to keep posession more, we are playing too much long from Robinson.

I agree Zokora's sheer pace and athleticism was a virtue when he dropped to spare CB, and he was much more effective there than he had been in midfield. But I still have too many reservations about Zoko's positional sense and reading of the game to think he could play there full time.

Also, do we really think Ramos is going to switch to a 3-5-2? It suits Bale, but I dread to think what a big and physical EPL side would do to Lennon if they had advance warning he was going to play at Right Wing Back...

we played in white today.....

We out played Westham for most of the game. An Error from Kaboul let them in. We just couldn't break down their defence. The result might not be what we exspected, but how was it a bad performance?

The worst I see from a football team is when the team do not build up the attack. We are playing too much long, and I hate to see Robinson kicking that ball long all the time, and 10 secs later the ball is lost. That is the pattern most of the time, when Robinson have the ball.

A good team will build up the attack from defence, and keep posession of the ball. We can do that aswell, but we don't want to. It seems like that they do not have the fitness to run, sometimes. Are they lazy, and always opt for the easy option? I don't think so, but very often we are lacking the pace in the game.

Didn't we have to hit it long a bit because westham were closing us down alot.

I still disagree anyway, i thought we built up and help possetion quite well today. It was just final balls that didn't come off.

Lots of time the long ball tactic has worked, and we hardly used it all game today.

Ratings anyone?

out buildup play was great before they scored, we looked very good...but no cutting edge whatsoever, its great playing that great football but we didnt even create a chance. Same story througout the game, we had great passages of lay but lacked the killer ball or a bi of magic, which is why we used so much long ball.

on another note did aaron lennon not take the worst corner I have ever....eeeeeever seen today! him and steed on corners?? im suprised the ball even reached the box!
