So Juve found him not good enough and now he's supposedly a 40m player?
That seems to be double his real value.
Think it’s more to do with change of manager at Juve who has gone out and grabbed Locatelli. Not sure 40m has much substance given it’s a lot more than they paid for Locatelli which I thought I’d read was 34m euros. Who knows, but would have guessed a bit lower than Locatelli.

I don't know anything about this player, but if he is anything like our current American int. player, they can keep him
Nothing alike especially since McKennie grew up playing in the US academy system (Dallas) and CCV played in the Spurs academy. The 22 and under group of Americans going to Europe to play are actually pretty good, even though still not the numbers that the European or South American countries are producing.

McKennie is a workhorse, covers a ton of ground, and is really good on set pieces. I've watched him a lot as an American. He makes really good continuous runs into the box, which results him in getting a good amount of goals for a deeper lying midfielder.

Personally, sorry for repeating myself, but I would prefer one of Kessie, Palinha, or even Aouar over him due to the data I've seen. However, he still has a really high ceiling and can continue to improve. He also is very physical and a few of the other CMs we've been linked with (except Aouar) fit that mould as well.

I just personally feel if we lose Tanguy we need someone who can carry the ball or play the killer pass to start attacks.

Can he turn out of and play out of pressure? Can he help transition the ball quickly?

And can he help dominate a midfield?

Thanks in advance, I haven't seen enough to know the answers to these things for sure. But all 3 are vital if we bring in a new CM.

I like McKennie, but if we sign him it seems like a bit of a middle finger to Dele after all the work he has put in this summer to transition into the new CM role. Would a midfield three of Dele - PEH - McKennie be viable?

I think having both Hojbjerg AND Skipp in the same midfield is often overkill as they have quite similar skillsets so having more of an all-rounder like Mckennie on the right of the 3, like you suggest, could be a good middle ground.

I personally think he would rotate/push for the position PEH is in right now. Not the deepest lying player but one that helps us press higher up, win the ball back and plays a quick pass to spring a counter attack. I do fit he'd fit that role really well. He plays quick, but I don't liken him to a passing specialist like Eriksen. While I think he can dribble out of pressure, he's not like a Tanguy or Kessie, he kind of powers his way through.

I think the main reason we would sign him is that he can bring toughness and physicality, help in the press, and seems like a really committed player, which I really don't mind getting these types of players because they'll do everything for the badge.

He seems quite similar to Dele according to the stats, as opposed to somebody like Kessie for example, but if he can play that box-to-box roll in the midfield three better than Sissoko or Winks can then I'm all for it.

Looks impressive in that video. Would be a massive upgrade on Sissoko. I think we need another solid all rounder to go with Hojbjerg and Skipp. It's a key area of the pitch and we need depth in there.

Being a popular USA international would be a nice little commercial bonus.

Can anyone who has seen this guy and has a balanced view tell me a bit about him? I watched him on YouTube and seriously underwhelmed. Looks technically, mmm, not great, lacking any kind of finesse, subtlety or real natural talent in any part of his game, and pretty archetypal American ‘athlete’ rather than sportsman/footballer. i did onky watch youtube videos but just have that Yedlin feeling. Feel free to correct me.

He has abit of industry about him, and would be able to play any of the three CM roles we have now - which makes him a pretty valuable squad player.

McKennie has some influence here if he tells Juve he only wants to go to Spurs. I have absolutely no idea what our contact with him, if any, has been, though. I'm just going to scratch this off the list for now. If we only want an initial loan, this ain't going to happen.
