Arthur is close to joining that lot so can't see them letting both go this window

I have a feeling there's gonna be a Mckennie Lo Celso swap. It seems written.

McKennie, another athlete and hard worker but who lacks technical ability and passing ability.

Why do we refuse to sign a midfielder who can pass!

Nevertheless he is probably better than our current midfield options? Hasn’t he been scoring for Juve this season?

I think he is a decent step up on anything we have in the midfield.
He might be an upgrade on the type of midfielder we have but we need a different type of midfielder. Technically good and press resistant. We are so bad under a press, we really lack these players

I think that was maybe the biggest difference between us and Chelsea over the past few matches.

Chelsea have Kovacic, Jorgino and Kante as midfield options. The first 2 practically never give the ball away and are incredibly press resistant, while Kante can either keep things simple or progress the ball up field with a run.

Winks is neat and tidy on the ball but a bit lightweight, whereas PEH is a bit cumbersome in possession and his passing is erratic. There were so many occasions last night when we got the ball only for PEH, Sessegnon or Doherty to misplace a simple pass that the Chelsea players would make in their sleep.

We basically need a proper all-rounder to play alongside Skipp. Someone strong, technically sound and press-resistant who can chip in with the odd goal. Not any easy thing to find. Maybe Kessie could be that player for us?

Disagree. I think he's exactly the midfielder Conte needs.

Yeah sure, he's not a Xavi or Jorginho but what he can do is move the ball quickly and intelligently in transition. I watched him make a very nice feint and switch play very intelligently versus Napoli. Something Hojbjerg doesn't have the agility to do as quickly.

He was also running channels and made a nice first time cross into Morata. Something I think Conte requires from his midfielders.

Conte's pass master will come from deep. He needs athletic and agile midfielders who can get all about the pitch rather than technical creative midfielders.

We aren't going to get a deep-lying playmaker this window. The ones out there will be too difficult to pry away now as they are so important for their club.

Yep. Its been a bit embarrassing watching them pass the ball around us like traffic cones whilst when we get the ball they press and win it back almost immediately. We should have taken a proper thumping in one of those games, and this is them slightly off-form.

The two things are different. Technical players who dont give the ball away arent necessarily playmakers. Look how many Spain produce. Players who never lose the ball in a press and normally pass short.

Difficult to find one who has the physical attributes for the Prem, and can also contribute defensively in January. Your talking massive money for a player like that.

I wonder if this has resurfaced with Juve realizing they can land Vlahovic this window and need to raise the funds.
