What do we do for a left back against Fulham?

Didn't Walker play left-back for Sheffield? Therefore leaving Bale on the wing, and smith at right-back!
Naughton used to play left and Walker right. I'm leaning towards a 3-5-2/3-6-1 type formation, something like

---------------Ade----------------
-------------------Rafa-----------
------------Modric----------------
-------Parker------Sandro-------
Bale-----------------------Walker
---Gallas---Nelsen---Kaboul----
--------------Friedel--------------

Bale for sure.

When we qualified for the CL, he came in at LB and played really well before BAE came back.

Given we have to attack, and given we want to keep it as like-for-like as possible, I'm with Ken. Bale please.

In fact, if it's not Bale, I would have to think that Bale himself does indeed hold more say over our team selection and management than Redknapp or anyone else. Which is a worry.

Fulham have threat down the flanks. They have thos young players who look very skilfull on the ball. I would be reluctant to risk Bale being pegged in his own half.

I'd play Kaboul there.

King and Gallas in the middle

I have no problem with back 3s, we were great when Harry changed to 3 at the back for the second half at Stoke, but with 1 game left and it being so important I'd prefer to keep with the tried and trusted back 4.

I also fully expect us to be on the front foot for the entirety of the match, like most home games so giving Bale a run up from LB could even turn in our favour. Far harder to mark runners from deep, and I don't think he'll be examined too much defensively.

Adam smith

He's a right back. Why would you play a right back at left back? It's one of the most awkward changes of position there is.

Remember Ekotto and Right back? Chimbonda at left back? SHIT

I think we have to hope that a decision was made on Sunday and they've been working on the system we're going to use in training this week.

Think we should stick with the same formation as our previous game. I think it unfortunately means pushing bale to left back, Modric out to the left and letting Parker and Sandro smash up the midfield. Parker can cover bale bombing on at the appropriate times and jobs a goodun. Prediction. Pain for Fulham.

You are correct IMO.

I have played right back, right centre half, left centre half, one of three centre halfs, right wing back, defensive midfielder, box-to-box midfielder and a 'man-marking' midfielder - all OK.

Left back?

Is effing hard to play. Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole having done it.

You will get run ragged and turned inside out for fun by a good winger.

we should have all the ball with that midfield, bale and walker should have alot of space to get balls into a front two

Drop Lennon because we have lost our left back ?

The problem for me is what the knock on effect is of having Bale play there, who plays in front of him, Modric is ineffective from wide left imo. Tell you who could of played there, that Pienaar chap

Smith's played left out on loan and had some of his best games there,
both him and Naughton who's still loaned out have done well on the left

Lennon appears dangerous, but he never really seems to do much, except appear dangerous
