Always liked football but being born in Minnesota it was hard to watch games. First World Cup i really remember was the 2002 World Cup because I was too young for the others. Since I have Irish/German heritage I always have a soft spot for those teams and was following the Irish team with equal vigor as I was with the US team. I remember watching the Irish/German Group stage match and a certain forward (my position) named Robbie Keane came up and scored in the 92nd minute and proceeded to do a cartwheel. Instantly my favorite player. I had looked up the goal on google images and printed it on a sheet of paper and put it up on my wall because there was no hope of getting a poster.

After the World Cup I tried to keep up with my favorite player but there was no hope of me watching Premier League matches. Luckily for me, I was able to get the FIFA video games and familiarized myself with this Tottenham Hotspur that Robbie Keane played for. In 2004 or so when Fox Sports World (later renamed Fox Soccer Channel) became available to watch in my area I started to really follow Spurs and Robbie. When he left for Liverpool I was sad, but I had made more of a connection with the club so there was no way I was going to start supporting another team (outside my local MN Thunder which is now after few changes MN United ;)).

I'll be going to my first Spurs match when they play against the Chicago Fire in about 2 weeks so I'm really pumped. I want to make it out to the Lane before it gets demolished but I don't think I will be able to :( . I wouldn't even be able to afford a flight out there let alone lodging/food/tickets/etc, but who knows maybe I will be able to save some money and get out there (y)!

Victim of girls-going-gaga-over-good-looking-footballers syndrome.. my elder female cousin was a massive fan of Lineker, over his looks more than anything else, and each time he appeared on tv with Spurs, she dragged me into joining her ogling of Gary.. so the I more ogled at him, the more I watch Spurs played.. rest is history..

I was born into it. My Dad was a Spurs fan and thus, me and my three brothers also become Spurs fans. Even when I go through periods of being fed up with football in general, I still always have an interest with Spurs, be it going to a game or watching/seeing how they got on on TV.

I started following Spurs because of Jurgen Klinsmann, he was my favorite player in the WC 1998. He played for the Spurs so there you go. After that its been a fucking roller coaster ride.

I started supporting football properly around 1990 so the World Cup with Linekar and Gazza being the stars then the following year winning the FA Cup made it easy being a Spurs fan.

My dad is a Spurs fan but only in a half-hearted way so there was no pressure there, he never really talked about football.

My mum got a job for Holsten so got some free tickets and got to meet the MOTM after each game I went to.

I guess there were enough different factors to make me choose Spurs.

I was 6 or 7 and saw kids supported teams and I wanted to support the best team, the best team would have the best player and the best player was the one who scored the most goals it stands to reason.

Its all Gary Linekers fault and I could have very nearly been a Crystal Palace fan if Ian Wright had been a bit sharper at that point in the season.

like @JerryGarcia and @dontcallme gazza and Gary got me into spurs around 89, and this strengthened throughout wc90 then with the cup final win in 91 it really snowballed from there. Plus me old man is a goon so went against him, in a way my daughter wont be allowed to.

For people who weren't born into it through family or location, what drew you to Spurs?

I'm a season ticket holder at Glasgow Rangers and have been since I was 8 years old, but strangely I became obsessed with Spurs when Alan Hutton (of all people) joined and have watched every minute of every game since. I don't even know why, but I really love Spurs as much as Rangers and it makes no sense to my rational brain...

Hoping to make my 10th trip to WHL for my first North London derby this season.

What's your story?
Never heard before, i'm pretty certain I won't again, that alan Hutton drew anybody to Spurs :D

1991 FA cup final was shown in our school (which was in the middle of the African bush) in the school hall to showcase a massive new satellite dish the school had bought & the whole school had to watch although no one knew anything about Spurs or Forest at all really. My uncle is a spurs fan so I knew a little and was therefore considered an expert. Then spurs won, and the deal was sealed!

First game I saw on tv was 82 cup final when I was 7, and supported since. Suppose I'm just a glory hunter.

The early years of 1970 the name Tottenham Hotspur and their pure white shirts and for me the name of the stadium White Hart Lane is pure poesy. I believe Spurs choose me :)

Family. Dad. Uncle. Grandad. Great grandad. All from within spitting distance. Uncle used to live in eyeshot of floodlights. Didn't have a chance

My dad moved to Harrow in late 70s, so I grew up first generation to not live in the local area. I had the 81 Cup winning shirt draped over me before I knew who I was

You'll be suprised how good he was for Rangers but £10m or whatever it was was absolute robbery haha, Levy got fleeced at his own game!
