Seconded, and surprised we're never linked, not even when Comolli was about. As soon as we lost out on Barry he seemed like one of the more obvious alternatives that we'd have a chance of getting. A decent all round midfielder, good on and off the ball, 6ft3, mobile, not super quick but probably quicker than Barry, and a good age at 25. Probably gettable for the same price or less than what they're asking for Sissoko. Not going to happen though....

I mention him in almost every thread when it comes to discussing our midfield. He is ten times the player Barry is as he's superior technically and offers more of a goal threat. I can't understand why no one has moved for him. After he recovered from his injury he was the outstanding player for me
towards the end of last season in Lique 1 where he was often deployed behind the forwards.
I can't think of many more naturally suited players to the Premiership than him.

Jermaine Jenas' final chance this season. Him and Palacios could be a great partnership, hopefully it will flourish.

What JJ's final chance to see If he can help us finish 5th for the 3rd time in his short Tottenham career?

He has nothing to prove to me

i havent seen him play but he sounds like exactly the kind of player that we need to replace jenas in the middle.

not gonna hold my breath though!

Never going to happen ! evern Harry stated in his conference, he does not know where that came from. I would like to get a CM of Lee Catermole coming in or this young lad Sissoko .. Then the doors are shut !:grin::grin:

Yeah, I know - wishful thinking.

Agree too - Cattermole or Sissoko would be just fine.

We need a cm player, one who can be the more defensiive of the 2. If Wilson is injured or suspended we go back to partnerships like Hudd and Jenas which haven't really worked in the past.

I think Crouch and Defoe will start v Liverpool and Crouch and Keane will start v Hull. Jermain scores goals at home, Keane offers more to the team away and has a much better scoring record away from home than Defoe.

Cattermole and Sissoko are too young for my liking. We've got plenty of young centre midfielders now. What we really need is an experienced leader at the heart of midfield. If we could get another signing like Davids, possibly Vieira, then the youngsters will improve. And if we could get a decent left back to cover for Ekotto aswell, then we'd be perfect.

I'd only be happy with a left winger if it was a top class one. Otherwise we have Bale, Giovani, Lennon, O'Hara, Townsend to cover there. Although 1 or 2 of those will probably be loaned out, theres still enough cover. Plus Jenas has shown he can do a job there if it comes to it (against Croatia), and Bostock can play out there too. We actually have more cover at left midfield than right midfield.

This is literally the first time i can look at our 1st team in years and think yep not one player there who is particularly weak and we have sufficent back-ups in virtually every area. If we really had to be picky we could sign and LM and put modric CM with Palacios but i'm not personally in favour of that I think Jenas and Palacios have potentiol and we have more balance with Modric on the left. Could also say Jenas could be replaced individually with a better CM but again you won't find too many better than JJ who'd be willing to come in my opinion so we'd really be clutching at straws. In terms of back-ups:
GK-Cudi
RB-Hutton
CB-Bassong,Dawson
LB-Bale
RM-Bentley/Naughton
CM-Hudd/O'Hara/Livermore/Bostock
LM-O'Hara
ST-Defoe/Pav
Only real weaknesses there are RM back-up if Bentley left however just filling in Naughton could probably do a job,CM could say we need to replace Zokora that'd be the main thing for me along with a better LM back-up but again I'm personally not fussed at all,O'Hara,Hudd,Livermore,Bostock are all very young so considering they are unlikely to be filling in too much anyway as we aren't even in the UEFA cup this season why not just leave it so if JJ,Modric or Palacios did get an injurey we finally give some of them a chance and we can of course always correct it in January if the injury is serious and the youngester filling in is proving not ready.

So to summise we are very strong in virtually all areas and I think signing no-one else would be fantastic for the stabilty of the club!
Can't wait for next season,I'm not going to say we will make the top4 but we do have a very strong squad and a good chance of doing well !!

I to reckon were quite set for the new season. As above, we are pretty covered in all posititons and with the addition of Bassong I'm quite happy for him to also cover Assou-Ekotto at Left back. Bassong did cover that position well for Newcastle last season along with CB.

We could and Should off load Hutton and bank the money for another player in the mould of Modric.

Who is back up for Lennon ? I know Bentley plays RM but that involves changing the style of play as you lose the threat of pace. I think this is the position that we are most exposed in, lose Lennon and we lose the threat of pace in our attack. I suspect that is why we keep hearing that Robben/AY are our number 1 target. We need another pacey winger in the squad and obviously it would be better if they could play on both wings so we could accomodate both the new player and Lennon.

Right midfield is covered by Bentley! If your looking for pace then Jenas. But I hear what your saying about another winger-only if Harry could get Gio playing to his potential he could also cover both wings, plus theirs high hopes for Danny Rose.
