There was a thread on Twitter yesterday, it evolved from taking the piss out of Ozil and Germany going out of the World.

It got to a point where It was asked something along the lines of 'name any of our players 'who won (sic) the World Cup'

There was a bit of an impasse until I obligingly informed them that our dear Jimmy Greaves did in fact win a WC
winners medal for his part in the 1966 finals, he played in three group matches in the finals and injury kept him out. The rest is history.

What I didn't tell them was that Jimmy actually had to wait for his winners medal for about 40+ years following an appeal by the FA which was accepted by FIFA who decided that all previous players who had been in the finals squads got recognition they deserved.

I also didn't tell them that he flogged that medal a few years later for about £44k or so.

Ha ye that's kinda my point. I just don't get the hate for Kane. To an extent I get it for alli but not Kane.
Its only coming from really weird sections of Liverpool and Arsenal...Liverpool because he apparently dived to win a penalty, which is completely selective as Salah got booked for the same offence last season, but thats fine.
Oh and he claimed a goal because it touched him, having the fucking cheek to come within a few goals of the greatest player of all time for the golden boot.
Arsenal...well because Arsenal.

Weird how Chelsea, arsenal and West Ham fans are behind Kane but Liverpool fans aren't. To think I actually used to enjoy watching their European nights. ****s.

It's like a religious thing for them, not a 'happy clappy singing' type of religious, more the 'beat your teenage son with a piece of wood for looking at porn' type of religious.
They're just consumed by the tribalism, which is a bit fucking sad really.

The are glad Mo is coming home early from the World Cup so he can get rested and his poor shoulder can get better. Sensitive folk really.

Bobby Gleaminho can carry othe Liverpool flag through to the next phase.

KUMB England V Colombia thread

Also..it's not only Southgate who has ushered in this new mentality.

He's been lucky enough to have a captain and talisman who stays calm and focused under intense pressure and foul play from the opposition. I couldn't care less if he plays for Spurs - he's a top class asset to this country.

Yes, Kane put in a proper captain's performance yesterday.

Trippier's penalty, from a tactical and mental point of view was the biggest one of the lot. An absolute gem.

Trippiers penalty was just beautiful.
Even taking away the pressure of the situation, it was just perfect placement, power and technique

Agreed, It was almost perfect.

give the Colombians their due , when they weren't being totally cynical and play acting they could play some good football and their defence especially Davinson Sanchez was outstanding

You say that but, having seen the shit posted in here by other teams’ supporters, KUMB seems to have a much higher percentage of reasoned and articulate members (totally in contrast to all my West Ham-supporting mates) compared to other fan forums.

Not sure @riggi would agree with you! My recollection of comments copied here from KUMB during the season were anything but reasoned and articulate. Now I could be wrong but, frankly, I can't be arsed to go back and look!

I have a few WH supporting friends who are very intelligent and articulated. I’ve also sat next to some idiots at Wembley who quite frankly couldn’t read the name sewn on the back of their underpants.
