Are you mad about football being dead? How many times have we been screwed over because there has been no VAR? Remember the semi final with chelsea where the ball didn't even cross the line? I believe if we had var earlier we wouldn't of gone this long without a trophy. So many times we've been the butt of the joke when it comes to controversial decisions, and last night it would of happened again and we would of been out of the CL being labelled Spursy for conceding right at the very end..

I think Var is a massive game changer when it comes to major incidents, and I am a believer in the technology.

I am astounded that Atkinson was not suspended (for a long time) after such a terrible decision.
First of all, the ball was no-where near crossing the line, and there was no way the ref could have seen it (the ref have to be 100 % sure before giving a goal and that means having a clear view)....and there was a blatant free kicking on Terry - just before the "goal" - as he barged into the Spurs player by purpose leaving not just 1 but 3 of them floored.
Even a pub team ref would have ruled against that being a goal.

Although, the goal wasn't scored with his hand. The ball was scored by his hip.
I'm not sure the rules are clear for next season on the LLorente goal.
He didn't score with his hand, and the handball didnt lead to him controlling the ball. The rule does not say any contact with the arm will be disallowed - and therefore there could be some confusion next year as well.
Uefa defends referee's decision to allow Fernando Llorente's decisive goal against Manchester City
.....While the television pundits argued over whether Llorente’s goal should have stood, independent experts have confirmed to The Telegraph that whether or not Cakir saw the ball brush Llorente’s arm, the correct decision was arrived at.

The handball did not meet the criteria for being deliberate and neither was it the key factor in the goal being scored. Under the laws of the game, referees must decide whether a handball is deliberate or inadvertent, based on whether hand moves towards the ball rather than the opposite, and the distance between an opponent and the ball....

I was just lapping up the saltiness on Blue Moon and saw this...

Amazing! They are such a bunch of spoiled bastards...

It’s unbelievable really, but it doesn’t take long for some fans to become entitled. Anyone who knows football ( whatever team you support) could see that City played superbly well last night and on another day could have won. In fact they did win the actual game.

That is simply sport, even more so when two good teams are playing each other. No matter how good a team you are you cannot win ALL THE TIME.

I suspect that the views shown there are from the more plastic City fan. Any long term City fan who has lost their perspective that much should have a serious word with themselves.

Var is only there to change a decision if there is a clear and obvious error. There was nothing clear and obvious about the alleged handball, while there clearly was regarding the offside.
I thought as a matter of course all the goals were now checked for offside?

As this is the what our opponents are saying I'd like to take time out to praise the City fans, I know some of them are bound to be bitter and will make some daft comments but there are plenty of them that have accepted the result and at least feel they played their part in a classic game.
Can you imagine the fucking tsunami of abuse and hate if it was Liverpool fans? It would be wall to wall fucking victimhood all over the media this morning and they'd probably take us to the international court of human rights or the war crimes court in the Hague.

City fans know this failure in the CL will be resolved with egregious spending come summer time. They can afford to be somewhat affable for that reason.

you are 100% right - love VAR and can't wait to have it in the Prem....looking back on ALL the terrible decisions over the years (Mendez at OT!) it has to work for us more than the current situation.

Both those examples would have been resolved with goal line technology, which we currently have. I'm just looking forward to Salah getting booked for diving.

Didn't even need VAR for that one against Chelsea, that was goal line tech that we needed and that too should have come a decade at least earlier than it did.

Yes VAR will take some of the joy and elation out of celebrating goals. But as long as it keeps improving and the rules are clear and consistently applied, fairness will prevail. And that is golden.

You look at boxing and how corrupt that's been. This will stop bad decisions and stop referees trying to give an advantage.

What happened to the rule whereby a player could get a retrospective ban for diving and gaining an advantage? Salah would have missed half the season!

I hope you're not going to be too disappointed if the recent (today's) report about him wanting to leave are true then buddy.

I seriously believe it could help us win the league. It’s giving us a better chance than ever. So many of the other top 6 clubs are already likely to lose up to 10 points because of it. They get so many decisions going their way. It will be a massive game changer.

The ref was really clear on the VAR decisions last night as well. If you look at the replay of him analysing the Llorente goal on the screen, he actually made a little motion with his hands having seen it as if to say “why am I even looking at this?!” As in it was clearly a goal. That was how I took it anyway. I got the impression that he was more than happy with it pretty quick.

I thought the ref was very decisive last night without making himself the centre of things like many Premier League referees do. He took the VAR advice and gave clear decisions from them. During the game he let play flow but did not forget to go back and book/have a word with players after fouls etc. If only all referees gave off such a professional air

Oh dear some people should not be allowed on Twitter.

Mate, remove/delete the picture. Its got the ultimately wrong C word in it & you'll see yourself swiftly removed from the forum if your don't take evasive action.

Edit: Or maybe I was too late & you're already gone.
