Never been fan of Lamela, but he should get a few chances to show if he still got it. There something with his mystery injuries. Maybe he just doesn't have mental aspects to be a PL player? It's been about year (70k*52) when he last played for us? In his first season he didn't even train with the team according Tim Sherwood so there's something wrong with him... :(

But no team will buy him because these "injuries", so it's pretty clear Poch should give him a chance if we want recoup any money from his transfer or get something from him in the football field... Let's hope he can redeem himself.

But last time I remember Pochettino was pretty upset with Lamela so I'm not sure if he's even going to get a chance to play...
Oh dear.....

Leave it in the able hands of the Poch and DL and stop the usual speculation on Coco! He wears the shirt, we support the shirt!

I think he will suit playing with Tripppier more than when he and Walker were constantly trying to occupy the same space.

I rate him always have, but he is not a kid anymore so he really needs to kick on this season.

He has two years remaining on his deal after this season. If he performs and contributes well this season, extend by 1 or 2 more years and tie down his prime. If he doesn't, sell.

My heart says that he can be a very valuable option along with Eriksen, Dele and Son. My head says that he's going to find it very hard to reestablish himself, having struggled for so long to make an impact in the first place anyway.

Jesus Christ some short memories on here...

Having him back is a huge boost. Like a new player coming in.

He's a guaranteed starter if he comes back playing like he was before his injury.

The guy was AWESOME in the 12 months before he got sidelined.

Well I am excited at the thought of him coming back into the team. Can play anywhere in the 3 behind Kane and can pick out runners. Huge improvement to the team.

I'd like to see him playing at 10 where he'd be a fantastic option to Eriksen. That way we can keep Eriksen fresh and motivated.

And not complacent

Edit: I guess your ‘motivated’ comment covered that (y)

I was going through stats of the league’s best creative midfielder/playmakers earlier because I’m a sad bastard. As you say, it is worth remembering in 15/16 season Lamela had 20 combined goals and assists in all comps.

Coutinho equalled this last season for the first time in his career and is suddenly being touted for Barca. Lamela is 3 months younger.

Also, what’s revealing is City and Spurs have consistently the best combined creative player numbers over the past few seasons - Eriksen, Alli, De Bruyne. All in the 40s.

Chelsea don’t have a single player who’s broken 40 but they’re the only club to have more than 2 players in the top 15 with 25+. They have FOUR: Hazard, Willian, Fabregas and Pedro, Having multiple threats from midfield is really important and you don’t discard strong contributors casually.

Lamela’s had his issues that have been incredibly frustrating but if he gets back to his best, he’ll be one of the first names on the team sheet. Also think the way we play is far better suited to him now than when he joined, so I am still hopeful

We really need a player like Lamela on days like today. I know he gives the ball away at times but that is because he is so proactive with his passing and his movement. Agains teams that will park the bus against us(and there will be a few) a player with his positivity will be a big plus to what we already have on the pitch.

I also think he will benefit from the bigger pitch at Wembley.

Cage fight with Francis 'Box Room Boy' Gibbs - 2 men enter one man leaves. PPV on Spurs TV
He would spend 3 mins running round like a headless chicken and then on first contact I would ruffle his perfectly coiffured hair and he would be out for another year

Or you'd jump in the ring, and get sparked out first punch. The crowd would then all nod in unison as they confirm their suspicions that although you threw a lot of fighting talk and insults around at the weigh in, there was absolutely no substance whatsoever to back them up.

Lamela when fit and on form will be one of the first players I would pick.

The thought of him playing in the team we have now is frightening. Really hope he pulls through this injury or whatever has happened in the past year because we need a player like him in the squad. Either to start or to bring on when were crying out for some creativity and non stop commitment.

So excited to see him back with the squad.

Who would you drop?

Bearing in mind we have from last season two twenty odd goal scoring midfielders, and the best assist midfielder (fifteen assists and eight goals) in the PL.

The Golden child by the way has scored ............. wait for it...eight goals in four years for us. Very good player, but seriously, even "fit and on form" he isn't going to be a player anyone who is sober would pick in front of Dele, Eriksen, or Son.
