I mean so far we've been linked to YET ANOTHER striker in Fred - why???? We already have 4 decent strikers and i for one would prefer to try and keep Defoe as he's playing much better now!!

....unless ofcourse, Commy sees Fred as a replacement for Berba (i doubt it very much!!!..........I HOPE!).

Next up, we've tried to lure Hutton away from sunny Glasgow, now this isn't a bad move, AND this guy Jarque seems to be on his way too - but do we really need another RB right now!!?? I don't see why we should unsettle Chimbo!

Then, surprise surprise, the good'ol LW position to fill - ah well, i know what we'll do, rather than look around for a decent LW from abroad (anyone remember Petrov), we'll just put in another ridiculous offer for Downing.............who has already turned us down once!!!!, plus i'm not sure i rate him at all!

Can't we just stick to the obvious, a decent CB or 2, a decent LB, definitely a LW and possibly a seriously hard tackling OR seriously attacking midfielder!!!

Woah! Hold on a minute, i'm not just saying we've been LINKED to these players because of press speculation, if that was the case i could've names 50 players!

The players above have been noted on the official site or have themselves given interviews to the likes of the BBC or SS, so there is more than just a LINK!!

What i'm trying to say is that i know we're gonna be linked to everyone and anyone - but if players themselves have mentioned it, then there must've been some kind of approach and if this is the case then doesn't it look like we're going in the wrong direction - looking at players in positions we don't really have a problem with!!?

All this Comolli bashing is really starting to grate on me. If people seriously think Commolli is a one man show, single handiedly running around like a headless chicken willie-nillie- signing who ever he feels like - then they are fucking deluded.

Regardless of what you think of him or how much you think you know about the operation of the club and the team he is clearly there for a reason, and that is that he knows a fuck load more about football than we can ever hope too.

i mean do you seriously think we would be looking at another striker unless we needed to, we have 4 good strikers at the minute, i seriously doubt the club are thinking "right, here's an idea, lets spend another 9 million on a striker just for a bit for craic like, sure he can warm his cockles on the bench" - i doubt it, most likely there are adressing this risk of striker shortfall if berba and defoe leave, which there is clearly a real chance off - but sure come back next season and complain when we only have 2 strikers.

If he thinks we need a striker or a full back then there is obviously a fucking reason why - we dont know what does on behind the scenes, other than bits of 'ITK' that you need to take with a large pinch of salt anyway, how knows maybe Berba has already said he is going - hence the striker.

You clearly rely too much on bollox ITK, and in turn post bollox threads like this that make me have to waste me time retorting to the bollox you write.

Now what about focussing on the positivies, if you really thought we would be making loads of siging this Jan then you are either incredibly stupid or just one of those guys that loves the club signing anyone just for some temporary excitment, then starts to complain when that player doesnt perform, then blames Comolli.

Well lets put these moves into context, we've just bought Gunter, we already have Stalteri and we still have Ifill to return, so thats RB covered (for Jan at least) - plus, i don't agree with all this talk about Chimbo wanting out to a bigger club, at times he's been our best defender and plays hard every game for us!
Plus, whats the point of having Hutton or Jarque AND then losing Chimbo, that just puts us back to square one!

Same goes for our strikers, if Defoe leaves or if Berba goes then do you think Fred would make an adequate replacement or would you prefer a more Prem League experienced player that would slot into a 3rd or 4th striker role?

I'm not saying we need to get everyone in Jan, i'm simply saying that whats the point of getting a RB or a stirker when a CB cover or LW would be much more useful right now!

How do you know we aren't actively seeking players for the two postions you mention? We have been linked making moves on Downing and that is just what gets leaked to the press (true or not)

We could be moving for numerous players in both the postions you mention, just that the ITK and or press havnt picked up on them yet.

Also we may be failing to agree fees with the clubs of the players in these postions we have identified. Im sure we want both a Left winger and a centre back, but im equally sure we dont want someone who is no better in quality then we already have purely because he/they fit the crietia in terms of postion they play.

Transfer business is not as easy as FM would have you believe, vast somes of money are involved, clubs dont want to part with quality players (especially in January) and we dont want to make desperation buys for players lacking the required quality to take us forward.

He never said he wanted a bigger club did he. As for him being one of our best players, good going forward liability in defence, as seeing we are shipping goals like crazy...........

If the club does no more business than Gunter this window, so what?

What we don't want is to be bringing in players for the sake of it and I'm sure the club aren't going to do this. I'm certain that the club has a number of targets that they would like to bring in this window and are doing what they can to make it happen, but if they can't and have to wait to do business in the summer then so be it.

I don't buy all this we're desperate for this and we're desperate for that, we aren't, we have a very good squad of players and the return of Leds has taken a lot of the pressure off.

I can't see any positions that are desperate, therefore we are right to be patient and only get in the players that we think can truly add to what we already have.

If not then the money should be put firmly back in the safe, locked away and re-opened when the close season window opens.

You seem to have got your facts horribly wrong.

So far we've only bought Gunter who plays at LB. Jarque as far as I've read is a CB (tick another one of your boxes). Regardless of your personal opinion on Downing, the last time I checked he plays LW.

BTW, we DO need Fred (or another striker) because sooner or later Defoe is going. Now if Ramos likes Fred and has the opportunity to buy him now or miss out if we wait, what do you think we should do?
