Play him left back. And get him to have a haircut.

Who messed with their hair most? Anderton or Bale?

It is officially hair week on SC.

Anderton always scored a set piece if he looked shagged, red faced, while sweeping his fringe to the side before the whistle blew.

Personally I think Bale is naturally an attacking left back, although he does have so much talent that he can be very effective in other positions. I think the defensive side of his game will improve over time. The first half against Russia will have given both him and Gunter a real education which will help them in the long term. Ramos seems to like his full backs to be an attacking threat (Lee who was our best full back defensively was quickly cast aside) and Bale, Gunter, Hutton, Corluka and Assou-Ekotto all fit the mould. They all have things they need to work on defensively, but some of that comes with experience. The fact that Bale is more than good enough to play at least 2 roles in the side is a bonus, but I would like to seem him spend most of his time at left back.

i prefer him at lw but when he played at lb against chelski he was simply sublime so i say we clone him and have two bales in the team.

Bale reminds me more and more of a young Kaka. More in the way he runs past people. Not the Brazilian skillset (yet) or the pace, but the general ability to drive past people and deliver. I'm really excited by his potential.

It's an interesting comparison, mil1lion.

Not least because it suggests a majority of posters would play Kaka left back. :|

I see what he means though, a general pacy player, take SWP for example would just use all out pace to burn down the wing on the line then cut in. Bale will stick close to a player to use his pace manoeuvre round and infront of them, blocking them off for a few yards at the same time, Kaka has a similar technique, although the boys got so much in his locker that he uses that less than Bale does.

bale is our new berba. play him as a central attacking mid and build the team around him.
