In fairness, I've been spotted driving by my friends, some of whom told me, "you looked so miserable."

Because driving with a huge grin on my face wouldn't make me look like a psychopath... :woot:

Sorry, I've just read the whole article and whilst it's generally reasonable in a "let's speculate about anything because we have no information" kind of way, this part below is completely ridiculous:

Firstly, in a 3-4-2-1 formation Lamela quite obviously wouldn't be playing as a wing-back, he'd be playing as one of the 2 behind the striker - a position he would excel at, given that he's generally more effective when playing centrally than he is when he's stuck out wide.

Secondly, the idea that it's hard to imagine Lamela putting in a defensive shift is laughable - even Lamela's biggest critics agree that the one thing you could never take away from him is his incredible amount of defensive work he gets through all over the pitch.

Come on, if you're going to write and promote articles that are fairly click-baity to start with, at least when you talk about the player himself, try and make it look like you've ever watched the guy play.

Winner'ed and QFT.

Slagging off (or even questioning) Lamela on this forum is akin to walking into a KKK meeting to announce you have married a black person of the same sex and are having a mixed race baby from thr Congo.

I'm just completely bemused at how a player with a long term injury and in need of surgery, who by the way puts in 100% effort and fights for the shirt each time he plays, can be so castigated by 'supporters' for being out of action...

The @Argentina international has undergone a comprehensive rehabilitation process following the injury in November.
— Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) March 29, 2017

The player has achieved a good level of function, however he has been unable to reach the stage required to make a full return to training.

Therefore, following ongoing extensive consultation with specialists, surgery has been agreed by all as the best course of action.

So it looks like it will be exploratory surgery, as there has been nothing on the scan to show any problem. Hopefully it finds something

Wasn't in need of surgery. It obv hasn't got any better on its own, now they have all decided to take this step. The lack of information from the club has led to the bad feelig

Because until just now, the "injury" was about as vague as a politicians manifesto.
I still think we've seen the last of him.
One year left, injured. Can't see him getting a new contract so we'll be looking for someone to take the risk that we won't.

Oh, so because you don't know the details of an injury you can abuse someone...get it...love your logic. Thanks,

I haven't abused him because i don't know why he's out.

Ive just stated that i think there is more to this than an injury and that i think he's likely played his last game.
Ive also questioned the unwavering support for him by a section of fans when in his career has mostly been remembered by being missing or looking like he should be.
Yes, last season he upped his game, but the level was that of a utility player, not a game changer.

Imaging scans often don't uncover causes of pain.

Given the lack of visible injury, then I ever more suspect it is something like lactic/Uric acid residues, or CRH related.

Symptoms - intermittent pain
Lifestyle factors - leads the press, highest intensity player we have, suffered recent emotional trauma

Emotional trauma, anxiety, depression all cause further back ups, if his lymph system is susceptible. Remember this started, supposedly, with a knock in training.

Dark rings round eyes could show susceptibility to low oxygen saturation also, which may significantly contribute, when coupled with emotional trauma (likely hampering his rest and repair cycles)

Hope he sticks with us, fit and at it he's a £50m player to me.

Hopefully everything works out, and that he's willing to have surgery shows that he still committed to the club and that he can work hard in the summer to come back, Because he is so well suited for Poch's philosophy and I think this 3-5-2 would really bring out the best in Erik.

I still think mentally he had a really tough time, with his brother, his dog and him missing out on so much football, so hopefully the club continues to support him and with a good summer for Erik to work on things, Erik can get back to his life.

Good, Conspiracy theories were getting boring.

Seems Lamela has finally succumbed to realising surgery is the only way.

AVB on dembele,

"Top players are missed. He had a scan, but we haven’t seen the results yet. He suffers discomfort and pain on his hip which is not something that shows on the scan so it’s difficult to assess. He had a chance to play [against Chelsea] and had a late fitness test, but the pain didn’t go away. It’s something that comes back to him."

Very similar, can't recall if dembele went under the knife to fix it
