I've always thought 'arry was a good manager and was happy when he took the helm. I', quietly excited about this season top 6 here we come.

I'm glad we haven't made too many change in terms of personnel and think harry is building a togetherness not seen since jol

palacios 14 mil
defoe 15 mil
crouch 10 mil
bassong 8 mil.

hardly like he is finding unearthed gems or getting old buggers on frees. at those prices the signings better be damn good

Newcastle. Leeds. Man City maybe. Money doesn't bring success.

Buying the right players does. Palacios is a great signing. Bassong looks alright. Keane and Defoe are repo's from debts owed, and Crouch is a solid player who he knows about.

Yeah, he should have signed unproven players for half as much, waited 1/2 a season for them to gel and get used to the EPL.

It's fuckin easy choosing the right players isn't it?

What was so impressive tonight was that we were determined to pass our way to victory.

In the past, when we played Defoe and Keane up front, our defenders would hoof lots of long aimless balls which Jermain and Robbie wouldn't even bother challenging for and which simply gave the ball back to the opposition. But tonight, we passed the ball quickly and simply, and we had a lot of fluid movement. Modric was nominally playing on the left, but he frequently picked the ball up centrally ahead of the Hud and Palacios.

Tonight, Keane was prepared to show for the ball and take possession, rather than jump over it or flick it to avoid contact.

Palacios and the Hud had total dominance in CM for almost the entire match and our fabulous four lil'uns - Modric, Lennon, Defoe & Keane - were then free to make things happen. We kept on trying to play our way in and hardly ever resorted to the coward's option of punting it aimlessly forward.

We also pressed very effectively as a team. None of our players were diving in for the ball. And all of them, from Defoe to the FBs, were closing down the opposition as a team.

If Redknapp has given the team the confidence to keep the ball on the deck, to pass and probe for openings, and press and defend as a team, then he has my full support.

Also, if we're going to play like this, then Gio will an ideal squad player. He had pass and move football bred into him in Barca's academy and, once he's had a bit of game time to adapt to the pace of the EPL, he could play the Lennon or Keane role if needed.

Dude, we were signing players at those prices under Ramos and towards the end of Jol's time and we struggled big time. That is not the reason we have been performing well.

I think you've missed the point.

Yes each of those players came at a price, but each of them came as a proven premiership player, but more importantly, came into the side in a position which we were clearly deficient in.

Look at Man Citeh, they're spending stupid money on strikers left right and centre and haven't thought at all about how that 'team' will play together.

The same could be said for Madrid.

'Arry did fork out a lot of coin for these players, but he did so in a way that would address the areas he saw as problems, and look what's happened since. 'Arry's no mug, that's for sure.

'Arry Redknapp's Blue & White Army!

boy people really do enjoy saying i told you so alot around here

You have to remember the amount of vitriol on here when Harry was appointed though; "He's a dinosaur", "he's just an east end wheeler dealer", "WTF is Kevin Bond gonna do for us?" etc etc.

I reckon the likes of Michey and Bus Conductor still think that Ramos' team were playing better "possession football" at the start of last season.

the fact is harry made all the players work much much harder. We are pressing every player just like what barca do. From the 2 games so far the opponents always had to resort to long balls because of our work ethic

I think Ramos did genuinely have a vision of passing football and a system he wanted us to play, one that would take a long time to learn but would eventually yield rich rewards - but he couldn't articulate it to our players, whereas Harry has quickly identified the team's weaknesses, constructed a well-balanced squad, and has us playing stuff that's not too shabby on the eye, while winning too (now if only we had consistency!). I think the poor job Ramos did is particularly highlighted by how West Ham were playing last season - good passing football and good results with a poorer team, which shows the quality of the coaches.

Has Harry spent money? Yup, but at least he hasn't wasted money, which is the important thing. Too often we've just thrown our money at flops or players who don't fit into our system. It'd be silly to demand that he discover cheap gems - that ought to be the task of our scouts - when his priority ought to be improving our side, which means he will target the more proven and therefore more expensive but less risky players.

My main concern about Harry was his track record of selling half his teams, when stability seemed particularly important for us. However, that's clearly been disproven this window  And it seems we really did try for Barry and Huntelaar and perhaps Young now, so I appreciate that we are still going for ambitious signings rather than the bargain sales with which Harry has been associated in the past.

I'm one of those people who didn't want him.
I feel like somethings biting away at core, ya know sorta niggling away inside, even bugging me while he's in charge, i can't say anything about his management style and think he's done an amazing job as our manager,

The reasons why i didn't want him, there's loads tbh, probably all press/media stuff over the years and turned me away from him like his ex west ham ties and his shady dealings in the past,

i applaud the work he's done and is doing but still have a dislike to the guy, fuck knows why i can't shift the feeling!!:bang:

I think keeping Palacios fit and at the heart of our midfield is pretty much the key to our success.

Him and Modric single handedly imo hold the key for us now and in the future.

This is 100% true. We need decent backup to Palacios imo.

I Kinda feel the same, I am really warming to the guy. He buys well and has the respect of all the players which was obviously badly needed.

I think what it is for me is that I know if something bigger and better comes along he will jump at the chance to go in a couple of years. I just cant see him being a 'Fergie' and staying with us for many years to come, although I really hope he does...

let's not forget the roles he's given to Parkes, Sir Les, Timbo, Clive and my absolute fave, Joe Jordan. I just love having that guy's steel around our team.

No doubt the ever smug Dan Ashcroft will be praying for a Hammers victory on Sunday so he can post something typically sanctimonious about Harry or the style of his team.

Can we make sure this doesn't just decend into member abuse please?

I'm incredibly impressed with Redknapp. Winning away from home is a feat for Tottenham, let alone scoring 5 in the process. Yes he has spent a fair amount of money but so has every one of our managers and it didn't help any of them achieve the kind of record that Harry is producing. A lot of us didn't want that Wigan midfielder Palacios or didn't think Keane was up to it anymore. The mood was far better when we signed Dos Santos and all the potential that came with him. I think our results, and performances have justified almost everything Harry has done since joining the club.

The irony is that the way we're playing now is how many imagined we might play under Ramos. Passing possession football, working hard as a team and closing down the opposition. I maintain that Ramos didn't manage to demonstrate this at Spurs. Whether he could or not is a moot point because Ramos couldn't get the basic wins he needed to give himself the oppertunity to get Spurs playing in a certain way.

It's his dodgy reputation and habit of lying a lot in the media, along with how he's bankrupted his former clubs. That said, if he were a young foreign manager, an unknown quantity, looking to build a long-term career at Spurs and getting these results, we'd be much more excited and feel we have something special. Harry comes with a lot of baggage and a less than impressive track record, and perhaps more importantly he doesn't seem like a long-term manager given his age. We tend to get more excited over 'new dawns' and 'potential' rather than seeing someone experienced steadying the ship in his last job.

I don't particularly care about his rep though (and I don't believe the brown paper bag crap at all), the results are priority and as long as he leaves us in good shape, I'll be happy

In answer to the original question, when we've won the double twice on the trot, then the treble including the champions league, beaten the Goons, Chelski and Manure home and away by at least four clear goals and our Manager wins the Nobel peace prize and the Booker prize for literature.

Or it will at least shut them up for a day or two........Eek
