Obviously we could win the league, the question is whether we should. Should we win the league? Yeah, let's.

I'm sticking with 4th. I don't think we've strengthened our first XI enough to finish above Chelsea, Liverpool, or Man City. Hoping for a cup win to keep the momentum going, though.

4th/5th

At this stage Arsenal have spent double than us nearly adding genuine quality , Chelsea have lost players but spent more , and man utd will improve

I’d be surprised if we even got close to the top 2
Completely baffled by this comment. Sorry for the call out but what quality signing did I miss Arsenal making that’s better than a comparable signing of ours? Serious question, did I miss something?

Honestly , don’t say Jesus bc the Brazilian national team coach starts Richarlisan over him and I think he would know both players game better than you or I ever could.
In my opinion, Chelsea grabbing Sterling is the only signing of note from a PL rival that ours do not compare with. Man City w/Harland is not counted bc I don’t consider City a rival this year. IMO they will run away with the title while Liverpool struggles with their new attack. I think it could be a three horse race for 2,3,4 between Spurs, Chelsea, and Liverpool with any variation of finish. I just don’t think Arsenal have really improved and Manchester United’s progress has been a joke so far.

Don't mean to be a doomer here but I've no clue how City don't win the title this year. With Haaland they are effectively unstoppable.
Holy shit, this may be the first comment of yours that I agree with.
I think City with Haaland is a scary proposition. I still think them selling Sterling was a mistake but wtf do I know. I have considered Zinchencho the weakest link for them for awhile so don’t particularly think that will affect them… or Arsenal really. Jesus is a great substitute from the bench but was the weakest attacking player within their squad IMO. Not a starter for us and weaker than Richarlison for me.
I think Mane is a massive loss for Liverpool, I don’t care how old he is. He and Salah combined or separate are irreplaceable this season for me. The new players seem to be good but they aren’t better than who they replaced so I feel Liverpool are weaker this year at least. Long term will probably recover but not this season.

I think Jesus is a stand out signing and is showing quality. He links up perfectly with their attack and provides much needed striker goals. Regardless of the national team, Jesus is a prem proven goal scorer.
Saliba coming back is big for them, plus their young forwards will likely be better this season , particularly martinelli who had really stepped up his finishing and looks to have wc potential.
I think they lack quality depth in certain positions and an injury to partey and Jesus and they may we’ll struggle. But they look good and I think their first 11 is on a par with ours personally.
I do agree with improved our depth and have maybe strengthen 2 positions in the starting 11, but we are still short at rwb, lcb, in the starting 11, and I think we lack another quality forward to rotate and probably a creative mid option. If we get say zaniolo in, and god knows who at CB but we definitely need 2 in.

Could be true, I don’t see it but I honestly tend to ignore Arsenal. All of our arguments for the squad is a desire to upgrade on Davies and get more AM coverage.
Arsenal needs a new midfield regardless of the attack. Xhaka will never be enough of a spine in midfield and the younger players only proved that they are capable of bottling it at the end of the season. Not sure that Jesus is better than previous attackers including Aubameyang which was irrelevant bc the midfield or defense blew. Too many holes and questions for me to believe they will challenge this season.
I would consider their transfer activity similar to Manchester United over the last few years. Flashy acquisitions that don’t address their true needs within the squad. As for the others you mentioned, I don’t know enough about them to have a worthwhile opinion.

City are a much better team than us, undoubtedly. If you ask me who'll end up with the best goal difference, which is generally a good indicator of team quality, I'd completely back them.

But the most impressive team doesn't necessarily win the league. Especially once you're as good as City are, it's into the territory of diminishing returns. It doesn't actually matter whether you beat Bournemouth by two goals or seven. Instead, it matters how you do head-to-head against the best teams, and how often you have an off day and drop points to the rest.

Maybe I'm too much of an optimist. But I think Haaland will give City more days where they hit someone for seven, but also more days where nothing goes right and they drop points. Much like Ronaldo at United last season, he'll put up impressive individual stats while the team as a whole regresses. He didn't even have a touch until the first goal against Bournemouth; an out-and-out finisher like him will always detract from your buildup play, especially in a team that had previously mastered it so well in a different setup, and be prone to going missing in action.

Now City will still be an exceptional side. But I think they're more likely to go down from the 93 they got last year to 88, than up to 98. At which stage the question becomes: can Conte's side be consistent enough, and do well enough against the best sides, to hit that 90 point mark?

Well, we already know he can beat Liverpool and beat City. We've already secured a big point at the Bridge - and I was less disheartened than most by the performance, restricting Chelsea's chances despite their dominance. And with more quality to rotate and more aggressive players from CM and LWB to attack sides sitting back, I think we can improve on consistency.

Even if we do all that, it's just enough to make it a close fight. But I genuinely see no reason why it's not possible for us to win the title this season, and to build a platform to keep on challenging. COYS

European football could take its toll though with Arsenal.

Chelsea I think will struggle to score in a lot of games

2-5th is going to intresting.

City do have blip seasons as well.

5th. We're clearly some way behind Chelsea, based on last week, and I still think City and Liverpool will be too strong for us. I'd say it's between us and Arsenal for 4th- and they've looked very impressive so far. Thinking European campaign might be a drain on their squad though, so we might pip them with our deeper squad, but it will be tight again for the CL positions.

Can’t see the “compared to last season” thread but that’s now 7 points up on last season’s corresponding games already after today

Probably best to wait for arsenal to play someone decent first?

If we get to the last game of the season and 4 points ahead of everyone else, I’ll go for 2nd.

Arsenal are looking dangerous this year. Both Zinchenko and Jesus looks like big upgrades for them. Martinelli and Ødegaard also good.

Arsenal have signed 2 players who seriously upgrade their starting XI, with another (Saliba) coming back from a loan. Perisic is an upgrade at LWB but the rest of our signings are depth.

In my opinion we need a special player in the middle of the pitch. I like Holjberg and I think Bentancur is a really tidy player but we clearly have an issue with ball progression. The first half today was so painful.

I hope we can make a splash before the window closes.

That said, Arsenal have Europa and that has proven time and again to kill momentum in the league. I don’t think they have the depth but they do have an excellent starting XI now.
