Where have all the Spaniards gone?

Just looking back through the transfer rumour threads and it seems we’ve been linked with every other Spaniard still playing football.
When Juande Ramos took over the whole of fleet street bought the Spanish football year book 2007 and started making up stories, these stories did I admit have a likely foundation in that Ramos is Spanish, has a good knowledge of Spanish footballers and so you'd have thought he had a little black book of names to bring in at the opening of the transfer windows.

So what’s happened to them? How many have we bought 10? 6? 3? 1? No we’ve bought 0, none at all. We apparently have or are getting rid of Berchiche so actually we’ve bought minus 1.

So far we have bought
1 Welshman
1 Scot
2 Brazilians
1 Mexican
2 Englishmen (1man 1boy anyway)
1 Italian
1 Croat
Possibly 1Russian and possibly another Englishman

But no Spanish, or French for that matter and we seem to be shifting them out ten to the dozen.

Now how many people had their money on that?
Has Juande had us all fooled?

There's your clue. I don't ever recall Ramos saying he was going to buy a sh*tload of Spaniards.

A lot of it was simply lazy journalism and I guess a lot of fans just making easy but false connections

I'm on record and have been for months that for example we won't be buying any Seville players because of 'strained relations' between the clubs

I think more or less every Seville player has been linked with us - some have had substance doubtless - most have been tenuous - none have happened so far - and I still see it staying that way all summer

It was just too easy to think oh yes JR he's gonna take this Seville player or that - I swear some people din't even realise that Seville were threatening legal action making complaints and generally going ballistic - or thought oh it's all just posturing -

of course it wasn't (though I'm sure posturing was involved - the powers that be there were genuinely not happy - you could argue that if Levy got angry over Berba & Keane - what we did to Seville was equally bad - so why wouldn't they be angry - i would be I reckon

Well, we know he put in a bid for Capel, registered some interest in Villa, and we think he was making noise about Albelda. That's three that he was interested in but never managed to sign, which isn't his fault. I think that there may have been more as well.
