I hope he is given a chance, or is he being kept out based on his looks as we now have a good looking back two lol, look at the attention the Spurs Twitter gives to Toby compared to Wimmer

Or it could be that Alderweireld is an experienced centre back with nearly 50 international caps, a full season in the Premier League and previously played alongside Vertonghen at Ajax, and Wimmer is a kid.

I suspect Wimmer will play in the early League Cup rounds and Europa League group games.

Don't worry, Wimmer will replace Vertonghen in the starting 11, during this season. He's a much better defender.

Just being eased in. If he hasn't played once the Europa/League cup has begun you can be concerned.

I would imagine most of the new and returning youth won't pop up properly till EL. Wimmer, Ali, Pritch, N'jie even maybe Trip, will need to claim a starting place just as Kane did. I think it's the right way to go about things.

He was last seen writing I am a fish on his Astronavigation exam paper before saluting the examiner and keeling over backwards

He's training with the team. There's a picture on the official twitter of him with Yedlin and Winks. Looks a bit like Dawson

Yep he was not picked in either of our first 2 games, we've clearly given up on him.

As others have said, he may get his first run out in the Europa / cups, or come on from the bench. But Poch is pretty good at putting people who do well in that environment into the first team, as we've seen with Kane, Mason etc. And also at getting players to push each other, as with Davies brought in for competition with Rose which as we saw last season raelly made Rose raise his game. So I reckon if he's good enough to fight for his place, he will play - and if not we will hopefully see much more focus from Jan (and Toby) on holding onto the shirt.
