Which Spurs Striker Would You Choose?

If you could have any of our previous strikers up front, who would you choose?

With the right striker I believe our current squad could be title contenders. Which striker from our history would you put up top? I have got to be honest, I am struggling to pick just the one.

I know he is fairly recent, but just think his all round play, plus devastating finishing ability means it has to be Klinsmann.

Who would you choose to play up top in our current side?

agree that greaves would walk away with any poll but in this particular side & is record of playing "loan ranger" clive allen
would have an exceptional time imho.

Even though i know Greaves is our greatest ever goal scorer i am too young to have seen him play, so i chose Klinsman, the greatest all round CF I've seen play for us (and i've seen a lot of good ones, although not for a while:().

He just had no weaknesses. Left foot, right foot, great in the air, quick over the first few yards, movement, scored all types of goals, good hold up play. The list goes on. Amazing that we managed to trick (sorry, persuaded ;)) him to sign for us.

Sheringham. Only because I believe that he would link play perfectly and bring out the best in Lennon and Bale

Edit : Although Greaves is clearly the best

Greaves.

Because he was the best we ever had.

We certainly wouldn't have any complaints about the conversion rate.

Are you saying that we would be playing just the one up front? As someone has said only Allen in this list was played consistantly up front on his own and made a success of it. Poor old Nico Claeson being the chief victim of the system at the time. I chose Berbatov because he is a smart player who possessed most attributes such a player would need. Chiv could probably do it....as could the mobile Klinnsman. Greavsie tended to come alive in and around the box which would not rule him out but being the single striker was not really his go. Gilzean was always best in a partnership Greaves or Chiv the men. Linekar was also mobile enough to adapt to the single striker role....while the rest would not be picked up front alone unless you were playing FIFA or FM

How much would Jimmy G. be worth today?

He would be Englands first choice, I would say he would be worth whatever you think Rooney is worth or more, depending on age obviously. Doesnt matter thou, hes was/is Spurs through and through!

The answer is almost certainly Greaves but I can't really comment on him. Of the others, surprisingly I think I would take Berbatov.

On reputation i'd like to say Greaves, but considering I wasn't even born i'll go with what I know and that would be Klinsman, although I nearly went for Teddy.

If it was any player it would be Gazza.

I didn't see Greaves play. That's why I asked the question... Would he fit into our current side?

For me it was Klinsmann for the reasons above. Just a beast of a striker.

Jimmy Greaves defo would not suit playing on his own up front holding the ball up for the benefit of others.

Therefore, choose any from Allen, Gilzean, Klinnsman, Lineker, Sheringham.

For me he would have been playing for one of the mega clubs if he was around to day. £40m+/- depending on age at time.

Levy would be treating JG the same as Bale and the price could be more - simply up there with and one of (the) Best.

Don't think the drink would have played such a big part in his/their lives today either more importantly.

Greaves no question! but I would love a Gilzean or Klinnsman instead of Dempsey, and a Chivers or Berbatov instead of Adebayor, and a Allen or Lineker instead of Defoe. In fact I would probably swap what we have now for any three of the ones above and I'd let you choose!
